Has anyone infomation about Holmes recent unofficial vist to UT . Official visit set for 9-24-10 per Rival.
How does it look concerning his interest ? a lean or just looking?
This may be the best chance we have to sign a quality big that we need this year.
Any other rumors around about a big looking at UT?

"Any other rumors around about a BIG looking at UT?"

this, and the title of your thread gave me cause for pause.

I just heard his trip to Austin went very well, but then that's what he said about his aggy visit too. From what I have heard it's Texas, A&M, Baylor or Purdue - not necessarily in that order.

We are supposed to be leading.

He's set to take visits to Baylor, Purdue and Texas. He's supposed to make his decision after the visit to Texas.

Moussa Gueye is set to visit the same weekend, 9/24. Mr. Gueye is a large, athletic man. I still haven't found any film of him other than the snippets used in the intro for the talk show which I linked in the last post on the 2011 post/forward thread.

Texas gets that important last visit. Gueye went to
Valpo this past weekend. I have to say I'm intrigued by the list of schools to visit--Valpo, Bama, USC, Indiana, Texas. Kind of here, there, everywhere.

Orangebloods has a new article in which they say Texas isn't out of the Daniels picture. I've seen a couple of interesting things from other sources in that regard. First, a couple of articles appeared in LA papers in which it was mentioned that Daniels is bound for Texas, and these articles were in the last three or four days. The latest was an article about the Elite Mobile 24 game, in which the author said Daniels is going to IMG Academy then to Texas. The author might simply be clueless, but I have a hard time seeing how someone can know about Daniels flirting with 2010 qualification but opting for a year in prep schooland not know about hiim decommitting from Texas.

The other thing was a comment in a Kentucky paper about how Calipari tried to sell Daniels on this year because they won't have room in 2011. The article actually said 2012, but that must have been in error. I already thought Daniels might not want to go to UK in 2011, and that was before UK got the commitment from Wiltjer. UK already has Davis, Gilchrist, and Wiltjer in the 2011 class, could return Jones and Vargas from the 2010 class, and could get either Behanan or Miller.

Mikael Hopkins recently expressed interest in Texas, and says Texas has offered. He doesn't have a visit list yet. Same with Amir Williams, except Williams has taken one of his visits (Depaul, 8/18).

If we can't get a really good big man then I'd rather take a JUCO guy and make the best of it for a year. If we take Holmes I have a feeling we will spend 3 years recruiting over him. At least with a JUCO guy they are gone after 2 years.

Hopefully no matter what we land better big men in 2012 than Holmes. There are a lot more options at least.

We are due for some good news

Because the odds are on our side ?
OR we are getting a commit from 1-2 quality bigs?
OR Danials saw the errors of his ways and recommits?
OR Dog found his "3" stroke OR developed a stroke?
OR Barnes found an offense scheme ?
OR Chapman put on 25 lbs and his huevos finally dropped?
OR Hill is transformed back to his Freshmen year form?(not his afro)
OR ?

I'll take Barnes getting the team to play physical and tough, like he used to be able to do.

Excellent news! We need to recruit at least a player like this each season. It is an absolute must to have big guys with legitimate size/bulk and skill, but who are likely to stay around for 3 or 4 years. I doesn't hurt to have some guys with one-and-done type talent, but there's just too much turnover when you only go after the one-and-doners.
