Umm, the Texas brand does go beyond the state line. No reason not to take advantage of that..

It goes beyond the state line but not so much in the recruiting sense. Good thing is that the new coaches are using their connections from before and it benefits us. Seems like Arizona is starting to open up. It is too bad Colorado depth has seemingly dwindled quite a bit.
 
I think Vinny Cerrato has a lot to do with these pleasant surprises. We all like to tout Texas high school football as the "be-all-and-end-all" of recruiting, when the truth of the matter is that teams have won plenty of national championships without an all-Texas squad.

It's about time we made waves by going after hardworking kids from other states who would like to be here, rather than kids who "assumed" they would end up at Texas after playing in a local system school since 7th grade.

I often wonder about the "Talent Level" in Texas. We are the biggest football state around and have hundreds more players than any other state. But because the talent level is so saturated... could this lead to a misconception of Talent Level (AKA Star Rating)? I like that we are going after the best no matter where they are from. I would like a balanced class of the best from Texas and the best from the rest of the country.
