i read in the latest Texas Monthly that muellers has opened up a 2nd location off burnet where the World BBQ Headquarters used to be. true? i didn't think that they did enough business to have 2 locations.
yeah, they took over that location a few months ago. i wish they'd have picked a better location, but john said it was easier since it was already outfitted for making cue.
I know this is sacrilege among Horns, but I am not a fan of Mueller's at all. Sams, Rudy's, Ben's, Green Mesquite are all a better local BBQ grabs IMO. Curious to know what the fans of Mueller's like there (brisket, sausage....?)
The only time I went I had the brisket and sausage, and loved both. Probably one of my faves, but hey, to each his own. That's why there are so many great BBQ places with different tastes from which to choose. You won't get the typical Hornfans lashing from me.
And I will admit I do like the Salt Lick. Not all the time, but every once in while I get a hankerin' for it.
On Burnet, north of Koenig, south of Anderson on the East side of the street. It's in some sort of farmer's market complex. Not sure of the address. It's close to the Curra's on Burnet.
It's JUST south of where Justin meets Burnet, on the east side of Burnet south of that Mazda dealership. It's next to a building that used to be an Academy, but is vacant now.
I don't ever get the sauce, personally. Not a fan of their sides but I guess you don't go to BBQ places for the sides or sauce.
I have been there many times. If I get the brisket too much, I get tired of it. The moist is somewhat of an acquired taste; a bit too much fat. Although great stuff.
T-bone sounds interesting. They never have it when I'm there.
