John Lucas Jr. and his future with UT

How much involvement will John Lucas Jr. have with our team the next 3 years and beyond?

I know he runs somewhat of a summer camp for the betterment of high schoolers, college kids, and NBAers in Houston. Will Barnes funnel or defer more of our players to spend time with him each summer now that Jai is a Horn? Do they have to pay for any of it?

I sure hope guys like Avery Bradley and more particularly Myck Kabongo can learn something from the wiley ole veteran during their stay in Austin.

I'd imagine since he's now connected to the program the Longhorns may get more one on one time with him. I hope this continues for as long as he's willing to teach.

I scalped lower level seats for a Texas/OSU game years ago when John Lucas JR was at OSU like his last year there. We ended up being RIGHT NEXT to his dad. Lower level, ~10 rows back. That was fun. If memory serves we won too. Close game though. Fun times.

Lucas runs a variety of things here in Houston. The Houston Kingwood Classic AAU Tournament every April down here just got renamed the John Lucas Tournament or something similar. I forgot what happend, but I think Vision Sports is no longer handling this tourney and Lucas has some parternship now with the grass roots basketball event. RCSSports had all the info at one point.

He already runs one camp in the fall for middle schoolers (Camp Right Way) and then the SWIC (Southwest Invitational Camp) in the spring for high schoolers. I went to the inaugural SWIC last year.

Lucas also holds NBA Draft workouts twice week leading up the Draft. He is very active in all things basketball. I wouldn't doubt it if he had some sort of involvement with Texas while his kid is there. Every where his kids have gone, the program has benefited. If nothing else, he will probably get more kids from our program to workout with him in the summer.
