someone will post this so it might as well be me right? ; )

not sure if i find it altogether credible but it sounds reasonable enough.

That's extremely ironic but it would follow and age-old formula.

i always find liberals who decry capitalism but simultaneously are extremely enriched by it to be very comical. i have always listened to the words of "Imagine" and thought how painfully ironic it was. i also have in mind my facebook friends who say they are "socialist" but have nothing in their lives (aside from voting Democrat) that looks remotely socialist at all.

"But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mau... you ain't gonna make it with anyone anyhow...."

I don't think Lennon was ever the flaming communist that he often seemed. I don't know that I buy he was a closet republican - I think the guy was simply making the point that he seemed to sound more like a republican than a democrat when he was arguing with left-wingers.

Lennon's citizenship would not have allowed him to vote for Reagan and his death didn't give him a complete evaluation of the Reagan we know today.
But what really might be going on here is that Lenn
on was a contrarian and probably got bored being around like-minded people blathering about the same ol' thing all the time.

He am sure he took amusement by taking the piss out of people. Taking up for Reagan in a room full of hippies and peaceniks would have been one way to do so.

so in my opinion, Lenn
on a true Reagan fan? Naww.. doesn't seem reasonable enough at all. Now McCartney... i could buy.

You don't have to be a republican to be an idiot and Lennon was a very gifted musician who was also an idiot. Read any of his idiotic writing. Read Lennon Remembers----or Lennon forgets, as it should have been titled.

He got rich and thought he was a prince among men. He was just a poorly educated suddenly wealthy man who let it go to his head.

And married Yoko Ono.

I've read just about everything available on Lennon and The Beatles.

Please don't confuse idiocy with naivete. John often applied simplistic solutions to solve very complicated matters. 'Imagine,' is a prime example of this. But, it's people, and their actions that made the messes that exist in the world today, and Lennon was masterful at getting people, or at least encouraging them, to do what they can to uncomplicate things.

Don't get me wrong. I'm no huge fan of Yoko. But, he loved her and who am I to question that.

And I believe you have it mixed up. He was a prince among men.............and then he got rich.
