It's funny. I'm 44. When I was 27, and at that crazy Morrissey show at Starplex that had to be stopped when too many crowd members got on stage, I easily felt like one of the oldest guys in the crowd. At the Joe Jackson show last night, my wife and I were some of the youngest. Odd scene.
Good show. He has such a great catalogue of songs. He played quite a few of the biggest hits, and did good covers of Lennon's "Girl" and Ellington's "Don't Get Around Much Anymore". Would have liked to have heard "Nineteen Forever", but no luck (is there some reason he doesn't play "I'm the Man" live?).
Great rapport with the crowd. The bargirls were pretty loud (at the Palladium, south of 30), and I was afraid he would do like Lloyd Cole at the Gypsy Tea Room and pitch a fit, but he fought through it.
If you like his music, and get a chance to catch his tour, I'd recommend it.
