J'mison Morgan leaving UCLA

Offered just for the heck of it--not that it has much to do with Texas.

J'mison Morgan, highly, highly regarded in the 2008 class and a total washout in two years of college ball, didn't re-enroll with UCLA for the spring and will transfer to a school near Dallas.

Hmm. He's obviously nothing like the player some were hoping to see out of high school. As I recall, Baylor had made an effort to land him originally.

And he's received a waiver to play this year.

Baylor will once again have incredible length, with Jones, Jones, Morgan, and Sekelja all at 6'10" or better, and Cory Jefferson at 6'9" to add to the mix, though Acy will probably play 25-30 minutes a game, if not more.

No, he's not Udoh, by any means, but he does have shot blocking skills (1/10.5 minutes for career), even if he hasn't done anything with scoring and rebounding or getting along with coaching staffs so far as a collegian.

I don't see Morgan as starting or even getting a lot of minutes, since Jones, Jones, and Acy will probably play most of the time. The options to rotate in are interesting. Morgan as a shot blocker. Jefferson as a rebounder. Sekelja as a possible scorer in the post.

I know a lot of people around here think very little of Drew, but if Stargell Love can play a steady game, I'll then expect Baylor to win the Big 12 regular season title, even though Kansas keeps proving it's stupid to ever bet against them to do so.

I believe Baylor expects him to be more of a Lomers than a Udoh.

A big body that can just stand in the middle of the zone or match up with the opposing big man, hopefully get a few rebounds on offense. He may actually be more offensive than Lomers.

I know the comparison isn't exciting, but Lomers did win us a couple games last year and that is what we need.
