Old people.

I started listening to Jimmy Buffett back in about 1978.

Umm . . .

Nevermind.

"Salt air it ain't thin,
It'll stick right to your skin,
makes you feel fine,
makes you feel fine."

I think of that verse every time salt air sticks to my skin, which is basically every day. It used to make me angry when I was sweating through my shirt and tie. Then I realized that the shirt and tie, not the sweating/salt air, is the problem.

He's great!!
His books are good too. Ive read "Where is Joe Merchant"? and "A Pirate Looks At 50". They are both fun!

The two best concerts I've ever been to are the two Jimmy Buffett concerts I've attended.

I broke my toe at one of them, and have no idea how I did it.

The Notre Dame game on September 21, 2006, followed by the Buffett concert at Southpark Meadows was epic. The only thing that sucked that day was the final score of the game.

Edit:Sorry, I was 10 years off. 1996.

And late at night you will find them
In the cheap hotels & bars
Hustling the senoritas while they dance beneath the stars
Spending those renegade pesos
On a bottle of rum & a lime
Singing, give me some words I can dance to
Or a melody that rhymes

Buffett has amazing business sense. He essentially turned one song into an entire industry. Plus, he took a chance on Todd Snider, so he is cool with me. I don't understand the whole parrot-head movement anymore than I do the folks who follow Phish and Widespread Panic around, but more power to them.

I was one of the youngest people at his Minute Maid concert two years ago. I'm 40. It didn't bother me one bit. There is nothing better when you're on the boat or driving to the coast. Nothing. Sure, I'm growing older but not up.

Dude's got a caribbean soul he can barely control and some Texas hidden in his heart... he made enough money to buy Miami, but he pissed it away so fast, never meant to last...

Yeah, he's just for old people. Same as Willie, Merle, Jerry Jeff...

Sincerely,
GM Platter (an over forty victim of fate, arriving too late...)

I grew up listening to Buffet, my dad is a huge fan. I'll always love his music, he's a great songwriter and performer.

Love the tunes, excellent songwriter. Never been to a concert.

If he's classified as being an act for older people, fine.
I'm 40 and cool with it, and don't make an effort to get into new bands just to try to pass myself off as young and hip ( as some of my friends do).

I listen to what I like.
