I am very pleased to see this kid do well.

I was a little bummed when he left, but im glad he got his oppurtunity which is something he would have never gotten here.

Although he didnt have a great game statistically, (9/20 with 2 TDs, 1 INT, 1 rush TD) he played with a lot of confidence and looked very poised in a very hostile environment.

The fact that he took it to the Gators in the swamp puts an even bigger smile on my face. I find myself cheering for Ole' Miss because of him.

i wish the kid well. no ill feelings here. he got beat out and wants to play ball, so he moved on. that's the way it goes.

good luck to him the rest of the year (although it pains me because Houston Nutt will reap the benefits).

Jevan and Ole Miss likely knocked Florida out of Texas' way. Thank you Jevan and Ole Miss !

No bad feelings for the kid. He came to Austin, gave it his best shot, saw that he was not going to play as much as he wanted, and he went somewhere that he could play more. It's hard to fault a football player who wants to play football.

It's also hard to miss him when Colt is as lights out as he has been . Right now Colt has 18 total TDs against 20 incomplete passes. I am no stat geek, but that's good.

If he was still here I wouldn't have to hold my breath every time Colt runs the ball. Glad he doing well, loved the win over Florida, but wish we had him to spell Colt if we needed him. That would be a pretty salty backup.

Congrats to Jevan! Nice win for the Rebels.

Would love to still see him in burnt orange, but it is hard to justify a kid with his talent riding the bench behind Colt. Glad he has gotten his chance to play and show his stuff.

Happy for him, too.

That said, I sure wish the coaches would come up with a methodical plan for putting in place a definitive backup quarterback. Ie., not one that we're pampering because he isn't starting. I'm not talking about Jevan in this instance; I"m talking about every single year here at UT.

We need a solid backup quarterback every year, all the time. Plus a to-be starter being groomed and getting experience for when it's his turn. There is too much of this ego-pampering crap going on.

I wish some unselfish quarterbacks would come here and be proud to win a Letter as a Texas Longhorn, even if it meant being #2 or #3 behind the starter. And that they practiced and got adequate playing time PURELY AS A BACKUP, not as a player trying to make up for not being number one.

The quarterback position appears to be the only position -- outside maybe of running back -- where football players have a really hard time playing Team and not as "I'm The One."

Jevan had committed to Florida before they got Tebow. He was supposedly told that he was their only QB recruit, and felt UM lied to him. He then went shopping around and saw that Texas was losing VY early, and only had Colt as a back-up RS Freshman. Confidant he could beat out Colt, he committed to Texas. After Colt's stellar first season, he decided to switch again. (My only knock against him is that he wasn't prepared to play when Colt went down.) Ole Miss wanted him, and it was closer to home. Then they fired the coach, and he gets stuck with McNuttJob. But at least he got even with Uber Meyer.

You're right, Tank. With all the prospects that talk about coming to Texas, and then don't, (Mustain, P-Loser, Brantley, et al), their stories sometimes can get tangled. Now it's Shepard.
