When it comes to recruiting, for years our resident insider has been Colt McVince. Haven't heard from him in quite a while. Just wondering if he may have morphed into J.S.?? Thoughts?

Its Bob Wheeler.

He's from my hometown. Graduated high school with his brother. Havent heard anything about him in years.

LOL at this thread. sorry i haven't been around much recently. lots of reasons.. time, lost insider contacts, as well as getting into trouble with posting 'rumors' in the past on this board. i'm definitely not the great JS. he's got a lot closer contacts to the program than i ever had.

that said, this is a fascinating year of recruiting already, with our crappy year and aggy's resurgence (along with their ridiculously early recruiting on the 2012 class). hard to judge our first few recruits. brewer and riser were no-brainers, thomas and norman make good sense, ridgeway is a good bet at a position of need, and DLT... well he's chet moss 2.0 (maybe even with less athleticism ugg).

i think our next few commits will be strong though. i don't think cayleb jones or kennedy estelle are too far away. like our chances on thomas johnson. we need to close on guys like michael starts and javonte mcgee, who seem like they like us but want to make sure before committing. dominique wheeler will be a tcu vs texas battle, now that aggy screwed the pooch on that one. i think we will get kendall sanders as long as there isn't an irreconcilable difference in his ultimate position.

i don't think the tim cole situation is as bad as most think. i don't want to think aggy has closed our brenham pipeline in 1 year. we need to get him or jenkins from skyline otherwise we have lost all the primary instate LB targets. still have no idea why we don't have an offer out to brian nance. kid is a player. will probably get a kicker, but not sure about a TE this year (unless you count ridgeway). malc brown 2.0 is not coming to texas unless he shows up this weekend and is blown away (somehow i doubt it.. too much ground to make up).

i'm thinking we end up with a #8-12 type of class at worst (better if we have unexpected spring-fall attrition, which will boost our 2012 class size), with aggy probably around a #10-16 class when all is said and done. ou will kill us if they get gunner kiel and dorian green-beckham OOS to go along with alex ross at RB, who is a stud. if there's one player i want in the country, it's DGB. WOW... we'll see how good wyatt is at a recruiter very quickly, with the big 3 WRs in the state this year, along with the big fish in the pond DGB.

there ya go.. my random stream of thoughts at the moment...

Wheeler is still around. don't talk to him or anyting but have a friend that does. he makes sure to keep his distance and frankly probably wouldn't be recognized by most now.

on a recruiting note, is MB2.0 a long shot because he grew up an aggy or did something happen?
