We've all seen what Ash can do. Jerrod Heard will be the best QB that's been on UT's roster since Colt left. It's time for a new start at that position.

I hope Ash is able to come back next year and that Swoopes progresses enough to be at least a solid backup. I'd hate for Heard to be another shirt burned before his time. Predictably, the burning of Tyrone's shirt brought zero value to either Tyrone or the team. The last minutes of a game aren't called garbage time for nothing.

I'm wondering when was the last time a true freshman truly lit up the NCAA? VY and Colt were both redshirts. Major was a redshirt, Winston was a RS this year. Manziel was a redshirt last year. To me, QB's need that extra year to physically train at the college level, get accustomed to the speed of the game, learn coverages, protections, etc.

Bayerithe, very very correct. People just forget that QBs almost always need a redshirt year before they can do much.

Bridgewater started in the 4th game as a true freshman for Charlie Strong, lost to Marshall 13-17 and Charlie changed his offensive coordinator mid-season to Watson. Bridgewater still lost the next 2 games 7-14 and 16-25. Then they went 5-2 for the rest of the year, and 23-3 for the next two years. Three losses in a row, and then 28-5.

Whatever people say, Heard won't be ready to do anything next year. It's a minimum 3-4 games of struggles for even the most talented ones, as a true freshman. Need to find a way to red-shirt him. Ash better stay healthy and Swoopes better be good under the next coordinator.
