woohoo! Due to the new FIFA rules allowing players to switch countries as long as they have not played a sanctioned match....Jones is joining the USA!! I hope we get to see him in the Gold Cup.

It will be interesting to see how quickly we can insert him into the lineup. I would think he has a role to play, whether paired with Bradley in the middle or on the wing. Too bad he's not playing forward any more.

He's obviously not going to play in the Confederations Cup, but I wonder if he would play in the Gold Cup. I think that he totally switched because he sees this as possibly his last chance to go to a World Cup and he knows that he's not going with Germany.

I say bring him into the fold and maybe he can even play in some qualifiers later in the year. Mexico puede ser? Maybe he and Bradley play side by side supporting Adu or Feilhaber. Wouldn't that be nice?!?!?!

Unfortunately I've now learned that it wont be until at least August before he can play and that depends on how fast FIFA processes his submission. It makes you wonder if there is any possibility at all that he is starting or at least a sub in Azteca.

I don't watch much Bundesliga and haven't seen Jones in his international friendlies with Germany, so could someone provide a scouting report? What are your thoughts of him and where could he best be used?

Selfishly, it's unfortunate he's not a world-class striker. Our Nats would really benefit from one.

Jones actually started off his career as a forward, for what it's worth.

Jones is a very tough enforcer in the middle of the pitch. I'd probably say he is a box-to-box player. He does have a nice shot from long range...Something we could use. It's just unfortunate that he plays the position where we are probably the deepest....However having a world class HM/DM is a huge asset. The pairings are endless as he could free up any one of our others central mids to spend more time roaming on offense.
