Jennie Finch Retires

Some of Jennie's accomplishments:
2010 Gold medalist World Cup
2008 Olympic Silver medalist
2004 Olympic Gold medealist
60 consecutive wins with Ariz (over two seasons)
32-0 season in 2001 at Arizona
NCAA championship (Ariz 2001)
Most importantly:

Wife to Casey
Mother to Ace (age 4)

She is arguably the face of softball. If you have ever been to a USA or NPF game, I don't think you will see any athletes work harder to promote their sport, and Jennie is usually at the front. She will be missed on the field very much. I hope she can continue to work behind the scenes to promote the sport she loves.

Basketball Jones: Although it is not surprising, I find your comment here ... insulting.

So it sounds like Jennie and Cat will be facing off in Round Rock next month and that will be it for JF?

Ignore the internet pervs, the only sport they have ever played is Madden or World of Warcraft. They would crap their pants having JF pitch to them.

I'm taking my daughter to the World Cup this weekend, so we will get to see her play her final game for the Red, White and Blue!!

Unfortunately, it is being reported that Cat will not pitch due to the injury that she sustained in South America earlier this month.

It's true JF is good-looking. It is equally true that she has been, and still is, one hell of an athlete. She plays first base like a champ; she is a very good hitter; and she is still one of the best pitchers in the world.

i've seen her up close without makeup.

but she is one hell of a softball player and ambassador for that sport.

I'd like to remind some of you guys that parents of athletes post here. If you were the parent of an athlete, would you like seeing that someone wants to see a female athlete in Playboy, even if they weren't specifically referring to YOUR daughter? Have some sensitivity, guys, and remember that women are on earth to be more than a way for you to get your jollies.

Every woman is someone's daughter. Remember that. One day, you might have a daughter. You're not going to like people saying they want to see your daughter naked.

And besides, not every beautiful woman wants to take her clothes off for you. Not even for a million dollars.

My original statement was about the comment HERE on this board. This is not the place for that comment IMO. 3:16 was the place for that. I do think it is insulting that thoughts about Jennie's amazing career and impending retirement are followed by a comment about her getting naked. Just not the time or place for it - we will just disagree on that GSJ. I understand that many males have those thoughts about Jennie and other female athletes - but you can't get into trouble for what you think, only what you say. This was not the time, nor the place for that.

Agree. lostman ! Thank you for your posts on softball.

The USA/Canada World Cup game is on ESPN tonight at 7:00.

Wow--talk about a thread going completely off the rails.

Back to the original topic--JF is a great player who will be missed. Thanks for the info, Lostman.

Gem - I have seen your posts on the baseball board - always very professional.

Please let this one rest. Thanks !

ESPN interviewed Cat during the Canada game. She stated she was leaving DePaul and returning to Texas (home/not UT) to rest.

I thought she may have been a candidate for the recent Assistant Coach vacancy, but probably needs more experience. Coach Clark also is the pitching coach which would be Cat's forte.

Best in the future Cat !

I'll try to be PC here , but I was the Atlanta airport and had the good fortune to pass by the Arizona softball team while she was a member.
One of the greatest thirty seconds of my life. Tall , beautiful blondes dressed in blue and red warm ups and smiling like they owned Atlanta.
