J'Covan Brown/Travis Mays

That was a very tough/painful loss no doubt, but damn did J'Covan Brown ever play his *** off. Am I the only one who thinks he reminds of Travis Mays? His ability to get inside on the dribble without the quickness of a TJ Ford was incredible today.

Hats off to this team. I said before the year started that I thought they wouldn't see the second weekend but this team by far exceeded my expectations. They were a fun bunch to watch. Had great chemistry and played hard 99% of the time. Yeah, we've got our warts and the offense still bogs down. No excuse for not being able to get the ball in, etc, etc, etc. But, still what a year. Much more fun than last year and next year is going to be better, especially if Tristan and Jordan return.

Hook 'em Horns!!!!

Travis Mays was maybe the best defender we've ever had. He'd cover 6'8" Todd Day at 6'2". He was a much better athlete then Brown, but you gotta love Brown's game this weekend. He was nails all weekend.

If JCB gets the rebound or passed the ball with 12 seconds left, we're on our way to Anaheim. Dude was lights-out today - it's a shame that Hamilton's 2 bonehead plays (calling the TO then fouling) will overshadow what J'Covan did today.

and Travis put up Kaiser Bob for what 3 years, and then enjoyed the difference for his last year with Penders.

Wonder what kind of coach Travis would be. If he could get his players to play as hard as he did, he would win a ton of games that for sure!

I believe Mays only played for Weltlich for 2 years because in Penders first season we beat GA Tech in the first round, but lost in the second round. Then Mays, Wright and Blanks led UT to the Elite 8 where we lost to Arkansas the next season, 1990 I believe.
