I got to go to the practice in Tulsa on Thursday and wound up not only getting a t-shirt but a signed one at that. After the practice I met J'Covan and got the shirt signed. Then I told him two things. I said this may sound stupid but;
A. Make sure you and the team get your rest so you won't come out "dead legged".
B. Get Balbay to take a few jumpers to make sure the opposing team knows we have FIVE threats instead of four or less. That will take the pressure off and weaken the possible double teams.
He agreed and finished signing the shirt.
I came away getting a strong vibe that this guy has a HUGE HEART for this team and has a burning desire to win.
Got to the Oakland game Friday and watched us win.
Was I wrong? 12 for 12 against Oakland then 13 of 13 against 'Zona.
The guy was the main reason we were able to get the lead at the end when the Hamiltons, Thompsons and Johnsons were having limited shooting sucess. He IS the reason we made a game of it and has us all squabbling about "what could have been".
I felt the most pain when I saw him lying there near the basket and all I could think of is how hard he busted his butt to get us that lead ( only the second one all game long 12-11 early 1st half) only to see it dissappear.
The fact is he will be around next year and with his skill sets and leadership we will make a deep run-- a very, very deep run.
God Bless You J'Covan Brown.
