Jayhawks out - COVID

Now with Duke, UVA, and Kansas out from COVID, I am wondering if Texas should play Saturday. Baylor had a bad COVID track record this season. And the NCAA tournament requires 7 days without any COVID problems to play in the tournament. It is probably not worth the risk of missing the NCAA tournament just to see if we can pull off the big upset and win the Big 12.

Semifinals, maybe. Finals against maybe the best team in the country? Nope

Wow!

Horns get Bailor or Okie Lite.... either will be tough, but the Horns might play their best basketball all season vs. one of them! :hookem:

We beat KU twice before they were down to barely enough players to field a team. This forfeit is no big deal. As to playing Baylor, why not as long as they meet the same criteria as everybody else?

Horns should have fresh legs - they will get an extra day of rest with this cancellation which could be a benefit playing a team that played a tough game the night before.... guess we will see.

I hope Bailor and Okie Lite have a grueling triple OT dog fit tonight. ; )

So, Texas advanced because an otherwise healthy player, ONE player, on a team tested positive for the covid? This is so absurd it is beyond comprehension. Seriously, this far into the pandemic, who cares, and why should that cause an entire team to forfeit?

I believe KU only brought 7 players to the tourney as it was.
Hard to play when you only have 6 players on the bench.
They pulled themselves out to try and meet Covid protocol for the big dance.

Could be wrong, but I think they didn’t meet the minimum requirements set forth before the tournament. Even if they wanted, they couldn’t continue.

While it may be hard to play with only six, you only have FIVE on the court at a time. I miss the days when athletes were actually athletes and played as much of a game as possible because they COULD and they WANTED to.

Kansas COULD have shoed up. That they did not is a sad commentary on sports today.

When's the last time they lost to the same team three times in one season? I'd bet they never have and just didn't want that stain on their record. :smile1:
