Jarred Salsa?

Obviously, fresh homemade salsa is the best.. by far. However, sometimes you don't have time to bust out the food processor and make a proper batch.

Thus, I consume a lot of the jarred stuff. I have never found anything that didn't taste canned. Best I found the Arriba line of salsas. Anybody else have some suggestions that taste fresh, or as close to it?

When you can't make your own, you aren't limited to jarred. There are some pretty tasty offerings in the refrigerated section, Julio's to name one. If you must have jarred, Austin Grand Prize is really decent, as already noted. Hell on the Red is an acceptable substitute. I like the On the Border stuff for a sweeter cilantro change of pace.

I like Holy Molé and Hell on the Red. Where do you buy Julio's? I drench my Rudy's breakfast tacos in that ****, but have never seen it in a store. It's tits.

jaime's spanish village hot jalepeno garlic salsa

i've only seen it at cental market though

its freaking hot

This stuff is edible:

Two Hot Mamas. They have been kicking *** and taking names in the Austin Chronicle contest for the past few years.

They make a red, a green, and an awesome combo:

And then there's this beauty, which is made with a proprietary blend of crack and heroin (well, it MUST be, because I can't put the chips down when it's around):

You can get them at all Central Markets, Sun Harvest on S. Lamar, and several smaller shops in Lakeway.

Two local gals who done good -- this stuff is hard to beat.

As great of a store as it is, Trader Joe's doesn't have a jarred salsa worth a ****. I love most of the stuff they put out, but after trying damn near every one of their salsas, I've come to the conclusion that they don't know **** about the stuff.

I've always been a fan of Mrs. Renfro's chipotle and corn salsa.

another for Hell on the Red.

idigtexas...you posted Ana's. The salsa is ok (at least what we tried at the Hot Sauce Festival), but have you tried Ana's Herbs? Really, really good stuff. I use it with a ton of stuff and have since last year's Hot Sauce Festival.

Another vote for Hell on the Red.

Great stuff...I use it all the time. First got it at the Houston Hot Sauce Festival a year or two ago and was very happy they carry it at Central Market.

Carter's is really good. They make it here in Austin. Good smoky flavor. I know you can buy it at Grapevine Market, but I don't know about other places.

I agree with GakFoo. Everytime someone comes to visit us from Austin, we ask them to bring us 8 jars of Jaimies Spanish Village salsa. Oh man, it hurts so good.

I'll take this one a step further.

One can of Herdes Salsa Casera
One jar of Herdes Mild Salsa
One bunch of cilantro, chopped fine

Mix the above well.

I've never had a better salsa than this, at any restaurant.

Don't ban me but...

I like the HEB brand of Chipotle and Garlic salsa. Not the Hill Country stuff, but a premium HEB salsa. It has good flavor and nice heat for a mixed crowd.
