247 had a slightly more updated list.

Five-star running back Soso Jamabo began his official visit on Thursday.

CB, Deandre Baker (Miami, Fla./Northwestern) -- Committed to Georgia
DB, Jamile Johnson (South Oak Cliff) -- Committed to Texas
DE, Charles Omenihu (Rowlett) -- Committed to Texas
DT, Daylon Mack (Gladwater)
DT, Du'Vonta Lampkin (Cy Falls) -- Committed to Texas
LB, Cameron Townsend (Ridge Point) -- Committed to Texas
LB, Breckyn Hager (Westlake) -- Committed to Texas
LB, Anthony Wheeler (Skyline) -- Committed to Texas
QB/ATH, Kai Locksley (Baltimore, Mary./Gilman) -- Committed to Florida State
QB, Matthew Merrick (Irving Cistercian) -- Committed to Texas
RB/ATH, Soso Jamabo (Plano West)
RB, Tristian Houston (North Shore) -- Committed to Texas
WR, Dominique Reed (Coffeyville C.C.)

All but Dominique Reed (who is coming from Arkansas) were in town as of an hour ago. He was expected to come late, I believe. Kai Locksley was late by over 2 hours due to flight delays but got in by 6:30.

We need to make sure that Deandre Baker goes away very happy. Just in case we miss on Hill and/or Boyd, we will need to go all out to get him to flip. From purely a critical programmatic needs standpoint, Baker and Mack are the most important recruits in the list.

It's so nice to see Charles Omenihu having some fun finally with everybody. Bless his soul. Cannot thank him enough for how mucyh recruiting he did over these many months, having committed without an OV.

Here was a tweet from Charles in Charge today -The Link
"I'm going to my official to have fun not to be in someone ear most of these dudes know where they wanna go..."

It is worth noting all the tweets to him from the fans below, who are thanking him with "you did more than enough; enjoy it today". I must say that I almost got a tear in my eye seeing that tweet from Charles, who can finally relax.

You had to live through months of recruiting to see how much abuse Charles took, because he was a 3-star guy and ags made so much fun of him for pestering Malik and others. Well, the final rankings from rivals came out last week, and guess who is now a 4-star? Charles F'n Omenihu! ... Here he is, having his OV with three 5-star guys. And the ags are crying.

THANK YOU CHARLES!!! Have a great time, dude.

Speaking of stars... did some stats a few days ago, just curious about the recruiting classes Strong got at Louisville.

I ended up noticing an amazing stat.

For the four recruiting classes... Strong got only twelve 4-star recruits.
2010, 3
2011, 4
2012, 3
2013, 2
======
total, 12

He got no 5-star recruits.
He did get sixty-two
3-star recruits.
His recruiting classes were ranked, in order:
#48
#29
#42
#52

The last two seasons his team went 23-2, with two bowl wins, one over FL in the Sugar Bowl. After the final season of 2013, three players went in the 1st round of the NFL draft. By Dec, Teddy Bridgewater was being reviewed as having an outstanding rookie season, tied with (I think it was Derek... can't recall last name). In the meantime, ESPN reporting this Fri that interviews (undisclosed) with those in the Browns community are saying Manziel failed on all the noted red flags, and it was not a very favorable read. A lot of the dings were on failure to prepare. Which to me says he came through a program at College Station that is not preparing young men very well.

If you go to Rivals recruiting rankings and select any year, you can see where the various recruiting classes were, and the number of 5-star, 4-star and 3-star rated recruits. Rather than show any comparisons here, you can do it. I think there's been enough retro-thinking in general. Time is now, and tomorrow.

But to say... Charlie went four years with a total of 12 4-star recruits and no 5-stars. Everything he accomplished was basically with 3-star recruits. I'm thinking he's going to make all the 5-star and 4-star recruits earn every bit of their rating. And provide the kind of leadership for the 3-stars to show they are worthy of one or two extra stars.

It's fair to be optimistic when you review what he accomplished, and what he was handed.

Hu, those are some interesting facts. He did so much with so little talent. It shows how well he developed his players. I'm excited to see what he can do with real talent like the 5 and 4 star players he's getting.

I'm predicting right now that we end up with Soso, D Mack, Kyler, Boyd, and Lodge. Maybe hopeful thinking on my part but it just seems that this group of players have bonded and one lucky team was going to get to end with all of them. And that includes Malik being a part of that group and who is responsible for it if it happens.

^^ Never predict anything about Daylon Mack. Nobody knows. The ag reporters say that Mr. Mack told them Friday morning that he had warned the Texas coaches that Mack really doesn't have much chance to consider UT (supposedly it was all TCU and aggy), and that we may be wasting time on him. We said we didn't care and we wanted him to come, apparently. BUT, apparently he also told them that he had no clue how his son would feel when he meets Malik! That explains precisely why our coaches might have asked him to send Daylon Mack down. It also explains Malik's tweet yesterday afternoon that in 3 hours he will be changing some people's minds.

Daylon Mack really hasn't ever been at UT and never really bothered about UT. It doesn't mean he has anything against us either. He is just unbelievably close to Malik though. It will just come down to how successful Malik is, in convincing him. He might flip for all we know, or he may just go back. I don't think Kyler Murray has much influence on Mack's decision, by the way.

All this just shows the relentlessness in Charlie, in never stopping to recruit guys and not showing any ego about whether they like us or not. We don't care what you think, we are "coming after you", as Bedford said.

Soso left at the half-time, reportedly all smiles.
As the game started, Malik posted this reply to somebody tweeting at him: The Link

Ben Lacey: I see you talking to @Soso_Jamabo1, you better be buttering that boy up. m/
Malik Jefferson: the meal has already been served

What might mighty Malik mean, me wonder?

Georgia commit 3-star DB Deandre Baker (Northwestern, Miami) was quiet throughout the visit, as per multiple reports but apparently that is his nature. His dad was talkative and he apparently really likes Charlie. It seems he will also announce on NSD. I am taking this as a backup plan, in case Hill and/or Boyd goes to a&m (and/or if Davante Davis decommits). But the word seems to be that this guy is high on us, and might commit based on how hard we push him for a flip. If we don't push, I assume he will stick to his Georgia spot.

Tall thin speedy near-4-star Juco receiver Dominique Reed (Arkansas by way of Kansas JC) had a blast, say multiple reports. It seems he might come if Jay Norvell pushes for a commit. he might even be a silent sort of commit. But I have to assume that Lodge and Burt decisions will need to be known before we would take him, as we have 2 WRs already. Unless Lodge commits (and I think Burt is going to recommit in the end), Reed will be part of the class, I would think.

Saw a report (I think from Jason Higdon) that our staff really knows what QB Kai Locksley will do, but he may not commit now. Locksley left very happy and said he had bonded very well with the whole group. Anyway, Locksley had been to Texas before and he is very close to Charlie, from a young age. My suspicion (just a guess) is that he has assured Charlie that if Kyler isn't coming, he will surely be there as our only QB pick, to calm Charlie's nerves (if the man of steel spherical objects, has any nerves at all).. But if Kyler is coming, he may think it over and see if he wants to decommit from FSU. Unless FSU pushes him to decide because they need his scholly (I doubt it) it is in his interest to wait as long as he can for things to play out.

Jay. I really like Kai Locksley a lot. If he declares to us (which I believe he does), do you think it affects Kyler Murray's decision? I want both. But I do worry about Kyler signing a big contract for baseball.

Where will Texas turn if they "cool" or miss on on Locksley and Murray commits to Texas then goes MLB? Texas cannot go another season with one championship level QB.

Jay, that should make us all feel better that we have a decent chance at both or an even better chance of at least one of them.

Locksley is already committed to a school that has 2 other QB commits so don't think anyone committing here will affect him. FSU fans seem to think they aren't recruiting him as a QB and he'll be moved to WR once on campus which is good and bad for Texas. Rivals and ESPN don't list him as a QB in college either...

One more note on the Jan 23rd OV guys. I was trying to see if the WR Dominique Reed that Jay Norvell brought in has an offer. It seems confirmed today that he does not have an offer, but he is willing to wait (as per 247). So he is clearly a backup plan for Lodge (or Burt if he somehow happens not to commit to us; I doubt it though). It's terrific to have such a good WR as a backup plan though. But we won't take more than 4 WRs, as we have 2 wrapped up, a 3rd who is pretty much committed, and Lodge TBD.

Reed has an offer from OU, so if we don;t offer, he will go to OU. Nice, eh?

It's quite rare that somebody is brought in on an OV without even an offer. Charlie knows how to play this game like big boys do!
