I'm poor. Therefore, I do not pay for subscriptions to recruiting sites. I have found some info on McFarland that all seems to point to him becoming a Sooner. I'm curious as to what you guys think about him. Do you feel confident that he will go to UT? Is he yours to lose at this point?

I have no inside or premium info either, but based on reading this board, it appears the sooners have the edge right now. I hope I'm wrong.

Sooners sent 6 coaches including Stoops to his house this week before the dead period starts and couldn't seal the deal. I think if it was a done deal he would have committed then.

The bad news for us is that the only thing we've heard is that he is favoring the sooners more and more.

I guess the silver lining on this is that they sent the big guns for the in home and he hasn't committed yet. At this point I feel that the longer he delays his commitment the better it is for the Horns.

Who really knows other than JaMarcus?

6 coaches? Sweet Jesus. Thanks for the heads up on that. As for sealing the deal, you could very well be correct. I have 2 questions for you guys regarding this. 1) Does UT have any visits scheduled with him? 2)I read that it isn't common for someone who has decided to go out of state to wait until the last minute to announce it so that they won't have to listen to people give them crap for the rest of their time. Do you think that this situation applies, or it is actually wide open, or even a UT lean after the 6 coach visit ended without a commitment?

We'll see, I'm sure Muschamp and Brown will pull out all the stops at the 11th hour. It'll be dramatic, I'm sure.

Im sure it will go down to the wire. For what it's worth, thanks for not jumping my @ss like others in a different section.

It looks like Mom likes OU, we saw what happened with Darrell Scott. I imagine that OU hits the trifecta of screwing us this year, BCS, Heisman, McFarland.

Don't get your panties in a wad...you're on a UT board, and that's a reflexive response, in a Pavlovian sort of way.

You'll normally find that, if you keep it civil, we return the favor. [Note: I said normally.]

Like you, I have no inside info, but having browsed several boards of both the burnt orange and terraklept crimson colors, the consensus appears he's a lean to your clips.

wrong, stoops has yet to have his one in home vist with him. One thing that is a fact is that he LOVES jackie shipp, is closer to him then any coach, and it isnt even close....his own words , not mine.
I think in the end he will be a sooner.
One thing that I find so weird about texas is that they can get anyone in the state they want except DT's and RB's. Why do they seem to let those players always leave the state??Im not trying to be smart butt, just an honest question.

As long as we win again in October, not too worried about recruiting wars. If we lose out on JaMarcus, we'll get the next great prospect - sort of like getting Roy Miller instead of Granger. That worked out in our favor. Muschamp may get more out of a non-5 star prospect than OU does with McFarland.

Guess mom changed her mind about UT. I thought I read that Texas has another in home with JaMarcus but I may be wrong.

No. You're not wrong. I read the same thing. It was like it switched one day from his mom loving and gushing over UT to OU. I swear it was like it flipped overnight.
From a Longhorns perspective, if he does go to OU, I can't help but wonder what the recruiting for McFarland would be like if Muschamp had been the DC for over a year. Certainly couldn't have hurt UT. In fact, if he does as well as he did this year, I would think that it could clench it for UT.

Well, I wouldnt say we miss on the top DT in state or out of state. We have 2 of the best in the country coming in...Johnson and Howell. If you havent seen their video, trust me, they are monsters. Having McFarland would give us a hell of a defensive line.

Hopefully he picks the good guys cause we want him!!

If he doesnt, he better get ready to hear a loud voice on the Cotton Bowl loudspeaker say "Touchdown Gilbert!!"

If we can get Kennard I really don't mind losing MacFarland.

Okafor and Kennard will be a disgusting half of a front four.

Our defense in 2010 will be absolutely dumb.

Gideon, Thomas, Chykie, hopefully Dre

Tariq Allen

half a defensive front of Kennard and Okafor

As much as you guys seem to feel OU has the edge in the McFarland sweepstakes, I don't see how you guys miss on Dre. That dude is going to be sick. As for Okafor...man....We graduate our entire offensive line this year and possibly lose our quarterback. If the last part comes to fruition I want no part (none) of the next RRR. What a letdown this would be. That game is hyped to be one of the ages. If OU can't live up to our end of the expectations, I think that it is the fans of the game that get gyped.

You're thinking of Dre Kirkpatrick. Even though he is visiting right before signing day, it's doubtful we get him.

Now if you meant to say Devon, that's another story, and an awesome one at that if we land him.

Im confused. I thought that the visit right before signing day would all but make you a lock. Why do you think differently?

Referred to on the other thread about him visiting. Don't know why he's visiting but he is supposedly a bama lock.

Ha ha. Oh why not. Maybe we'll be surprised and pick up Jarvis Jones. That would make up if we don't get it.

i know he is still highly rated but he has been slipping in all the rankings and almost all of the first hand accounts of the guy have not been glowing. except almost everyone says he's a good kid. hopefully we have turned our focus to kennard

I am sure whoever we get, Mushchamp and the other coaches will develop. I just wonder what the mess with Auburn and Muschamp did to some of the recruits. They have to know this might happen year in, year out until Mack retires.
