Jaime's Spanish Village Tribute

I’m not sure if you are aware or not but Jaime Tames, long-time owner of Jaime’s Spanish Village on 8th and Red River (across from Stubbs) in Austin, passed away very suddenly about a month ago. There was no formal announcement made, as this is how Jaime would have wanted it, but Sra. Teresa and the family now want to open the doors and thank the people of Austin for keeping them in business, as well as allow friends and customers to pay their respects. If you can make it, please come by and have a margarita or grab a bite, I know it would truly mean a lot to the family. Either way, please help spread the word as it’s near impossible to reach all of the thousands of people this man touched over the past 3 decades- it seems like everyone I talk to has a story- or five…

damn. we were there the night REK was playing across the street. he was tending bar, as always, that night. he must have passed a few days after that.

RIP Jaime. Good dude.

Aww man that sucks. I end up at Jaime's about every other week, hell, I even had my college graduation party there. Thanks very much for the info, I'll definitely be in attendance on Saturday.

R.I.P. Jaime

My mom took my dad there when they started dating while at UT in the late 40's.

I've been eating there ever since I switched to solid food...

i've never been. is it pricey. i am gonna make it a priority the next time i am in austin to eat there.

My wife and I used to frequent there every friday evening from around 2000 to 2001 ( i had been going for a few years prior, but we both worked downtown at that time). anyways, the staff got to know us so well that we would only pay for food, not alcohol ( in the form of tips). to this day, I still remember the reaction when we told Jamie and our usual server to only bring ONE glass with our pitcher. W/out skipping a beat, they brought out one, huge shot...for daddy.

RIP jaime.
