Jackson Jeffcoat to Texas?

This reporter in Jeffcoat's hometown of Plano seems to think so. This might be the goofiest blog entry I have ever read, but the opinion of this man is that he will commit to Texas within the next week.

Jackson Jeffcoat is committing to Texas … I think

I promise I will start blogging about things other than Plano West senior Jackson Jeffcoat very soon.

But the public demands more Jeffcoat and by God I am here to provide it, more specifically where I believe the defensive end is going to college.

Now, you might be thinking (assuming most people have an inner monologue like I do), didn’t he just write this blog?

No … this blog is different.

The last one was based on my personal opinion, this one is based more on facts and information I have learned over the last week.

I know no one likes anonymous sources, but unfortunately that is the deal that had to be made in this situation. But trust me, this source is close to the situation and knows what they are talking about.

I asked this source to make sure to call me once they had any information about where Jeffcoat would be committing. Now, signing day isn’t until Feb. 3, but Jeffcoat told me he would make his decision by late-January and I have now learned he will be making his decision within the next week. For those getting impatient at the fact that I haven’t said yet where that will be, just look at the title of the blog!

Anyway…

Once I found out that my source knew Jeffcoat would be committing within the next week I pressed for the name of the school. The source simply smiled. I continued to press and learned that the head coach for Jeffcoat’s soon-to-be-football team would be coming to Plano … presumably to seal the deal. I know some people have suggested that Jeffcoat’s father Jim may be the next defensive ends coach at Oklahoma and that could seal the deal, but I think it is too late in the process for that to make a difference.

I pressed more for the football coach’s name, but my source said they couldn’t tell me before taking a long pause and saying it was because they didn’t know. I asked my source if they really didn’t know and simply got a wry smile in return.

Alright, this tactic wasn’t working, time to go in a different direction.

Hhhmmm … perhaps cleverness is the way to go.

So, I asked my source, “Will this coach be coming to town in Mack Truck?” This obvious reference to Texas head coach Mack Brown (at least kind of clever, right) was met with a laugh and then a long pause. My source started to open their mouth and then stopped, smiled knowingly and said, “I really can’t say.”

I’m not sure if this reenactment scenario translates well in writing. I hope so or else everyone reading this will think I’m a dope … or to be fair, even more of a dope.

Either way, I know what I am talking about. Jeffcoat is going to verbally commit this week and he will be committing to Texas.

And if you don’t believe me, stick right here because this will be the first place to get the official news … even if that news proves I was wrong about Texas.

I watched that show espnu recruiting tonight to see if any new news happened. They are still mostly concentrating on Tenn and usc and decommits and so on. Finally it got to JJ and the big Olineman said he's talked to him multiple times and said JJ says very little and he got almolst zero out of him as to where he is leaning. He then said it's been usc and texas for some time now. He believes usc is now out with carroll leaving. So now it appears to be texas with ou a distant third. sorry no link but that's what was said.

I start to wonder if these high caliber recruits have 12 siblings, 8 coaches, and 32 best friends, considering the number of "sources close to the situation".

Of course a "source close to the situation" could be the mailman who saw a letter from Mack in the mail, or some kid in Jeffcoats history class that saw him wear a UT hat one day.

Rumors are out that Jeffcoat is taking the trip alone, no dad...so that could be read as a good thing, no need to bring the parents when you are not too serious about them, or, the Jim is going to interview over the weekend, away from Jackson as not to distract from his son's visit.

This could be made into an after school special.

the pay OU boards are reporting his dad will not come with him. he will come by himself without any family.

i think this has more to do with jeffcoat sr. he seems to have some principles regarding the recruitment of his son, and i have a lot of respect for him because of that.

it will be nice if we get him. and it would be nice if his dad joined the staff as well, but either way, it feels like he is giving us a fair shot.

guess we'll know next week.

There's really no need for his parents to attend the visit with him. They've been a ton of times visiting their daughter there. I'm not reading too much into that at all.

Agree with Texas Jack. The significance of no parents is to dispute the rumor that OU planned on interviewing Jim Jeffcoat while they were in town.

Jeffcoat announced he will be making his decision on the 31st before his trip which makes me believe he had his decision already made which should be good for Texas.

If in fact neither parent is going on the visit, then this just seems a little strange to me. Even though the sister goes there, it just seems that if this were a serious trip, then a parent would go. But then again, I don't run any recruiting services, so what do I know?
