Aurora (Colorado) Regis tight end Jack Stoll had to weigh offers from two college football heavyweights, Nebraska and Texas. He liked both programs. He liked both coaching staffs, too.

But on his visits to Lincoln, Stoll said after he picked NU Wednesday afternoon, he got a "gut feeling" he didn't have when he visited Austin.

And so the Huskers beat the Longhorns — along with home-state Colorado — for Stoll's services. The 6-foot-5, 225-pounder is the 11th overall commit for Nebraska in the 2016 class and second tight end, joining Lincoln Christian star Jared Bubak.

"There was just something special about Nebraska and Lincoln," said Stoll, who visited for the June 12 Big Red Weekend event as well as NU's spring game. Stoll said he got "goosebumps" at the spring game, but the depth of Husker fandom hit him just as hard the night before the spring game as he sat at Haymarket Park, watching Nebraska baseball play Minnesota.

"I turned to my dad and said, 'there isn't a single person here not wearing Husker red,'" Stoll said. "That really struck me."

So, too, did Nebraska offensive coaches — Mike Riley and offensive coordinator Danny Langsdorf — telling Stoll about how often the Huskers plan to use tight ends in the future.

"They have two tight ends on the field about 60 percent of the time and one tight end on the field 95 percent of the time," Stoll said. "Obviously, that wasn't the main selling point, but it was one of them."
