Jack Daniels

does anybody actually like this stuff?

I mean REALLY like it...other than the cool brand name and image? This stuff tastes like ***. No wonder "Jack and Coke" is so popular. The Coke improves the taste of this swill.

It's a marketing marvel...a image created by white-trash hillbilliy rednecks that for some reason, became "cool".

I "like" it, because is tastes O.K. with coke and gets me loaded.

I REALLY like Makers.

I LOVE Knob Creek and Bookers.

If you've ever been to the JD distillery and seen birds shitting into the uncovered vats, you'd be even more apprehensive. Woodford or Maker's for me, please...

So THAT'S what that subtle flavor undertone was!

okay, I have to confess.

my favorite drink is Gentleman Jack neat. or with ice or with coke.

Overindulgence has killed my ability to drink most of my favorite liquors: Tequila (in my 40s), Vodka (in my teens), Crown (in my 40s). And lots of beers in between (most notably Spaten in my 20s). But Jack has been a constant friend. It used to be that I'd ask for "rum and coke" at bars when I was broke and in my early 20s. Whenever I was flush with cash, though, I'd make the "call shot"--JD and coke. When I started gaining weight, I thought I should shift away from beer to whiskey permanently (a bad choice that I'm kinda stuck in). So I about three years ago, chose Old No. 7 as my main drink. It was okay for a while.

Then I discovered GJ. OMG. That is heaven. I've sprung for Single Barrel but GJ kicks its ***. Last Friday, my favorite watering hole ran out of No. 7 (largely because of me). They switched me to Makers at my direction. But I could tell the difference.

I've tried all whiskeys and Scotch's, but GJ beats them all. Yeah it's may be moonshine but that doesn't make it wrong. And I'm not a redneck by any means.

I was drinking with a Yankee coworker about 2 years after a stressful day of legal work. (One of her first major assignments). I guess it was 2pm. I ordered a double JD on ice. (the first of two or three). "Jesus,_________, you're drinking moonshine for breakfast!" She said disgustedly. "So?" I responded.

JD is alright, George Dickel (the only other Tennessee whisky) is a lot better. Anyone who likes JD should at least try it

Someimes I like JD but I also like Knob Creek, Makers, Crown, GJ and even keep some Southern Comfort on the shelf for an occasional snort.

Glad I saw this thread... I need a bit of an unwind today, and this is just what I needed....one whiskey sour... sorry, Jack, twill be Knob.

What about Jeremiah Weed (think I got the name right)?

Any of you have that? It's popular on Air Force bases, from what the interwebz says.

All you high-end bourbon lovers need to get over to Spec's and pick up a bottle of Black Maple Hill. You won't regret it.

I was just at the JD Distillery yesterday. Took the tour and everything. What uncovered vats are you talking about? I didn't see a single unconvered vat where a bird could take a ****.

Personally just not that big a bourbon drinker. If I HAVE to give me some Makers, or Turkey Reserve over a couple of ice cubes. I have never cared for the "heavy" taste of JD.

Cannot stand whiskey mixed with coke or anything else for that matter but ice and the water that follows.

Jack Daniels is my regular mixed drink. And of course the GJ is just that much smoother. I have always prefered Jack over Crown.
