Buchanan believes that Gray was close to committing to the Longhorns recently, but never pulled the trigger.

"Last week, I thought Johnathan made up his mind that he was going to Texas, but who knows," he said.

Before narrowing his choices down to three, Gray also considered a handful of out of state schools, as he was courted by everyone from Oregon to Alabama. Eventually, Gray and his father decided that they wanted to stay in Texas. Gray told Buchanan that he planned to make a decision before the team's spring football game on May 2.

According to Gray, he will make his commitment on Friday, April 22. He does not plan to have any ceremony for his announcement.

I'm with cochamps on both points. Kid seems to have perspective, bravo to him! It sounds like he and his family have handled this absurd recruiting circus very well, I'll pull for his success no matter where he goes.

At the equinox (March 20, 21 or 22) when day and night are equal, we celebrate the earth's regeneration with the festival we call Eostar. Eostar, or Ostara, was the Germanic Goddess of spring, and she has given her name to the Christian Easter, which also celebrates rebirth.

What this has to do with the commitment of Gray, I have no clue.

I hope I'm VERY wrong on this one, but my gut tells me that if he was coming to Texas, the announcement would have already been made.

Most kids that really WANT to be at Texas make it known and get it done quickly. My gut tells me that he ends up in Ft. Worth.

My dad lives in North Texas and when I visit, we like to go watch local high school games. Given the proximity, we went to a number of Aledo games. I have coveted this kid for Texas since he was a sophomore. I was hoping for this kid before he became a hot topic on the various Texas message boards, so I am hoping my gut is wrong on this one.

The fact that he is said to be among the recruits at the spring game gives me some hope. Can you imagine what Harsin & Applewhite could do with Brown AND Gray in the Texas offense?
