I've just been recalled to active duty

So does anyone else have any experience/stories/warnings about being called up from IRR? To me it's all good. I kinda see it as an opportunity to TCB, finish what I started and whatnot. It's the nature of the beast.

Anyone else? Does this mean I'm definitely deploying or what? I better not get called up to sit behind a desk in Kansas waiting for something cool to happen. Oh, wait...

Don't really have a lot to add excet ditto to what everyone else here said. I'm grateful, I'm humbled, and I wish you and all your peers a speedy and safe return.

I'd be curious to know your MOS if you're inclined to share. I haven't heard about a whole lot of IRR callups. Are you an MP or Engineer per chance?

Also, being called up from the IRR (please note this is third-hand info from someone I knew who was called up) doens't garauntee you will be deployed, and in fact, they may call you in and then say "never mind". The buddy I knew who was recalled, was sent to a CONUS post to backfill a position that had been deployed.

I'm infantry (11B), that's why I can't be at all surprised I was recalled. In fact I was kinda surprised I wasn't stop-lossed when I got out in 2007. The unit I was assigned to deployed to Iraq shortly after I ETS'd.
