Itunes?

I had all my music on my desktop, which is currently not being used bc of wireless network / wife issues -- don't ask. So last time I synched my Ipod, I checked every song so all the songs would be on it and then manually copied them from the ipod's disc to my laptop.

Here's the deal: Realplayer found and loaded all of the music into its playlist and plays it just fine, but Itunes won't import any of it using get file, get folder, etc. I can import one song at a time, but I have to go in manually and click into the folders labelled F00, F01, etc, and click on the individual song files which are named eg Aa104, etc, no way to know wtf song it is AND there are thousands of freaking songs.

Any suggestions?

Try this:

Select the top level folder that has your music. Right-click or Alt-Enter to bring up Properties.

Uncheck the "Hidden" attribute and Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files.

See if iTunes will recurse the directories after that.

thanks Dan! I had the folder on my desktop, and I figured since I could see it it couldn't be hidden. After reading your suggestion I noticed it was "shaded" a little differently from the other folders, and was indeed hidden when I looked under properties.

Weird though that realplayer did not have a problem finding the songs initially.

Glad that worked.

I'm pretty sure iTunes behaves that way by design. They mark the folder hidden on the devices when in hard drive mode, and I think they consider the behavior "copy protection".

Real Player doesn't give a ****.
