It's recently dawned on me...

that I might never get to live in Austin again. I live in Missouri now, and at the beginning of the year assumed I would move back to Austin in May. Now, however, my plans have changed such that there's a chance I might get to spend a few weeks in Austin before pushing off again, possibly for good.

I'm excited about the life that would keep me away from Austin, but a little sad at never settling down in my hometown. It's pretty bittersweet.

Sad isn't it? There is literally only one job for what I do in Austin and the guy who has it isn't leaving any time soon. So I'll never live there again either. Sucks. Oh, and I live in Detroit. Have pity upon me.

Yeah, I'm the mayor of Detroit.

It's actually not that big a deal. I'm a university professor. The guy at UT who has "my" job is really good and about my age. But if he gets hit by a bus I am SO in there.
