Some posters have been trying to make the argument that the IRS fiasco really isn't a big deal because it just shows we need to be getting money out of the process in the first place. Deez clarified my point, and I don't have an issue with talking about simplifying the tax code. My point is that the complications and intricacies of the tax code have nothing to do with this.

The IRS didn't deliberately target conservative groups because it didn't understand the tax code and made honest mistakes. It did it because it was being used as a political weapon - and granted this is clearly not the only time this has happened. It does appear to be among the most egregious.
