Just wondering since it has been many months since the fiasco with, I think, Robert Joseph and the possible involvement of a much needed "5 star" defensive tackle Andre Jones. It was amazing to know that Andre had absolutely no problems in HS, came from a nice home and then probably blew not only a wonderful career has a Longhorn but also a shot at the NFL.

If my memory is right, Jones claimed he really was not involved but was removed from the team. His only chance to get back to the team was to be completely cleared and exonerated. I have not seen anything in print from the AAS or anywhere else since then.

Enquiring minds want to know. Somebody out there must have some info.

And by the way, any of you other members of the team pull any DUMB BONERS like thatduring this offseason or at any other time, I have two words. DO NOT!

I am pretty sure there would be a few threads on it if there was news. I do know his trial is starting or is about to start. I am sure the City Court website or something like that would have info.

Unfortunately the fact we have heard nothing about this kid for months & months tells me that the wheels of justice turn slow and that we cannot count on him being back. This kid was everything a college coach could want: a leader - he was student body pres. or at least Sr. class pres., good grades, etc. never been in trouble, a true stud on the field. He was an All-American kid.

Evidently he was influenced by an upper classman (with low or no class), did something stupid and was at the wrong place at the wrong time. Profoundly changed his life in a negative way for a long time. I hope the kid gets a second chance in life, but sadly, I strongly suspect he will not get a second chance at a scholarship to play football for The University of Texas.

Yes, he was attending classes and on scholarship. Don't know of his status for the summer or if he is taking classes or not. But he was on campus, he was in the normal routine. He is not allowed to work out with the team or practice with the team.

We're now approaching a year since the alleged offense. I'm glad to hear he is on campus attending classes. I hope he is allowed to work out in the strength complex. Thanks IOOP for the update.

The fact that he's in class and on scholarship tells me there's is at least the slightest chance that he may be able to get on with his life, and his athletics, if the trial turns out right. Short of genocide, everyone ought to be allowed to recover from at least one stupid juvenile action...if indeed, he made such a mistake. That has yet to be proven.

He is not working out with the team or involved in any practices. He is suspended from the team but still on scholarship. I don't think that James Henry is with the team at all, however. I don't think he is still in classes but I could be wrong on that. We lost touch.

Our roster is limited to 125 players. The NCAA limits everyone to 85 scholarships. That gives us room for 40 walk-ons, but the actual number is usually between 25-35.

If you are not in the 2 deep, you are on the scout team, or practices squad, or whatever you want to call it. Getting reps on the scout team does not mean that you are not going to get game reps, you just better be busting your *** on special teams, showing up to meetings on time, and taking care of business.
