Vol Horn 4 Life

Good Bye To All The Rest!
I haven't noticed a thing.

The phone I pay for works

My satellite tv still works

My electricity is on

The gas stations are open

The grocery store is open

The roads are busy

An airplane just flew over my house

My dogs still like me

I passed a cop who was giving someone a ticket this morning

I saw a fire truck going on a call

The school buses were running this morning

Oh, and OU still sucks!!!!

What has changed? Why am I supposed to be so worried about the bloated wasteful government being shut down?

Me neither. And no one will get audited by the IRS this week.

They can stay gone forever as far as I'm concerned.

By the way, I heard that Tip O'Neil shutdown the guberment 12 times while he was speaker of the House.

But, but, but you CAN'T GET A PASSPORT!!!

You know, I don't remember it being such a deal these times:

During the Ford and Carter administrations, there were 6 partial government shutdowns that affected only the departments of Labor and Health, Education, and Welfare. These partial shutdowns lasted from 8 to 18 days and the primary issue of dispute was federal funding for abortion. During the Reagan administration, there were 8 full government shutdowns that lasted only 1 to 3 days apiece, primarily over the issue of the United States budget deficit. There was a similar 4-day shutdown during the first Bush administration.

During the Clinton administration, after conservatives made massive congressional gains in the 1994 Republican Revolution, there were two full government shutdowns lasting 5 and 21 days apiece, the second of which was by far the longest of its kind to that date. The primary issue was again the United States budget deficit.

Even as important "Days of Our Lives" is not being interrupted.
Usually some freaking crisis steps on the 1:00 pm Central broadcast and my wife and I have to DVR the 7pm showing in 408p 4:3 format later that evening on the Soap channel.

The situation is Washington is beneficial. It shows that the central authority of a King is not a good idea.

Because of the way it is set up, if Congress is not willing to pay for something... it doesn't go into effect. Otherwise, we have a King rulling the land. And a partisan bill such as Obamacare can foolishly go into effect. Or an unjust military operation can continue.

If Congress does not fund things... then it doesn't matter who wanted it spent, it is not going to get funded. Law or no law. Congress, this way, has a hand in putting a check on things.

The writers of the Constitution purposely set things up this way to put a check on a single ruling authority.

The House, in this instance, IS
DOING THEIR JOB. They are speaking in a majority voice -- just like the Democratic completely partisan vote did what they felt like doing late one night passing a law that nobody read.

Ever since, members of Congress have tried to correct that gross stupid action. It's how it works, you see.

I say slash and burn the entire Federal Gvt. Keep the military, and eliminate the rest. If you're too stupid to plan for your own future then too freaking bad!

Holy hell, I just visited the healthcare website and I got on a holding page "in line" that refreshed every 30 seconds or so. After 10 minutes I got fed up and came back here.

This is the best it's gonna get. Keep the govt shut down.

I work at HQ Air Education and Training Command at Randolph AFB and I know I had great parking when I returned from lunch

msdw24 speaketh the truth !!

ps. I subscribe to a religious belief that to get to the spiritual worlds there is no such thing as a free lunch. Each earns his way there by merit. No true spiritual master or saint is anything but self-sufficient. And if you cannot learn that here, how are you going to learn it anywhere else. Grace kicks in only after we've done our part and accepted responsibility in all ways.

By the way, these inexpensive premium plans also do not comve with free lunch. The deductibles and out-of-pocket expenses are going to reverberate across the landscape from sea to shinning sea when the proverbial s-h-i-t hits the fan after way into next year when people start using those policies and they get the bill.

Just think of the reaction by anyone without awareness of how insurance works. I got the shock of my life going to Northwest Seton Hospital ER for a shin wound. Even with Insurance I got bill for $300-400, and I paid administration, a nurse, and the doctor who saw me. I then learned that you're better off always going to a clinic than to a hospital. I've since changed my insurance.

It matters WHAT insurance carrier you have, and the kind of policy. I had to go through a leaning curve on it, and I consider myself wise and worldly and been around the block a few times. I feel sorry for anyone trapped into this unexpectedly.

Would you really think the insurance companies are doing this for nothing? The premiums will be paid and rebated to make it appear cool to the insured, but the companies did not set themselves up to be paying hundreds of millions in care.

I now honestly believe Obama himself doesn't even understand the bill. One day he may be at that podium saying, "Holy ****... folks I am so sorry. I got duped, too. I owe you all one. Big time. Matter of fact, that is a lot I have not been aware of. Gotta get this fixed."
