Italian hot chocolate

I was in Rome a while back and had the most wonderful hot chocolate ever. I am not particularly a hot chocolate fan, but this stuff was unlike anything I have ever had in The States. Almost like drinking hot chocolate pudding, but not as sweet. I think they steamed it like a latte. Any help with duplicating this?

closest I have come is microwaving hot choc. to a froth...then I add espresso of course...might want to try different choc. or go online and buy some hot choc powder from Italy...

I have the white one, works well. However I have never had Italian hot chocolate so it could suck in comparison.

Was it hot chocolate, or drinking chocolate? I picked up some mighty fine powdered drinking chocolate mix at Spec's. It's thick, slightly bitter, and smooth. In fact, they have four or five different kinds.

I miss the old Starbucks drinking chocolate, that stuff was really good.

I don't speak Italian, so I don't know if it was hot chocolate or "drinking chocolate." Plus, the Italian girl who made/served it was so spectacular that I wasn't listening even if she said.

It was thick and very slightly bitter, so maybe that's it. What/where is Specs?
