It takes 1,000 Palestinians to = 1 Israeli

According to the Palestinians who negotiated the release of Gilad Shalit this week.

I wouldn't say these guys are the most intelligent group of people as a whole, and I don't think they understand the message they send to their own people. They'd kill 1,000 of their own if it meant taking down one Israeli- and they've proven this this week, during the intifada, and countless other times in recent history.

It's almost more to them about killing Israelis or taking their land than it is really about helping their own people.

Keep in mind, this is Hamas they're dealing with, not the Palestinian people as a whole.

This is how a minority/terrorist group (well, you can't even call them that in Palestine) achieves results. And it worked. Most of the 1K they wanted released were in jail for juvenile crimes or petty thefts by women, although the Barghouti stuff seemed to take center stage.

My point is not to mock a group of people (although I would confess I hate their actions 100%) but to point out the stark difference in the value of life separated in a land by a fence, culture and history.

One group (Hamas) sends kids, women and young men to die and kill other kids, women and men. The other would trade 1,000 criminals and terrorists if it meant the return of one young man they love so much.

If the Palestinians had any honor they would trade one for one. What it shows is a greed in a culture and people so strong that not even their religions can apparently overcome it.
