It Is Actually a Good Deal

I think that getting a regional and a #1 seed in Austin may not have been good for this team. This team has turned around because they did a gut check. It takes a gut check to win twice in College Station against a team desperately trying to break a losing streak and win the regular season. It took a gut check to win 3 of 4 in Oklahoma. It took a gut check to come back in the bottom of the 9th against ou sucks. If we had gotten the regional and the #1 seed in Austin, then maybe they would have relaxed a little. This team needs to play every out like there is no tomorrow. I think that we are going to see great things happen.

Except I live in Austin and wanted to see some more baseball from my seats. Oh well. I cannot argue with your thoughts.

Absolutely. Look what a home regional and top 8 seed got us the past two years. This team is made to play on the road and with a chip on their shoulder. I think the ideal situation would be to go on the road at one of the top eight seed sites and knock them off first. Then take care of business wherever they send us.

well said. augie knows what's next.

I cannot help but think that some of these comments sound like sour grapes. There is no way
that playing at your home site is not the best thing for a college BB team.

With that being said, I feel better about this team than the last two years. I saw the 2004 championship
game --- that CSF team was awesome. The way that team turned around their season gives hope
for any team like Texas that is gaining momentum.

I hear the thunder. If the Horns starting pitching staff can continue to develop and become sharp
for 6-7 innings with a closer coming to the front, an orange lightning flash can strike this year.

I would have loved to have seen Texas at the Disch one more time, but something tells me we will be just fine.

Augie has this team playing well on the road and with and attitude. Hook'em

The bullpen DESPERATELY needs to improve or Texas will not make it out of regionals, much less make it to Omaha.

I don't know what has gotten into Cole Green, but he was absolutely terrible in OKC, and really no one else from the bullpen had a notable performance either. There is no question that that has to change. Everything can not be left up to the offense in every game. There are going to be games were Texas is not going to have 19 hits to make up for bad relief pitching.

There is one missing ingredient right now...correctly identified above. If this team is to advance, someone has to step up in relief.

Is it reasonable to expect that this late in the season?

The relief pitching does need to improve, but the all facets of the team held up against some very tough Big XII teams in the tourney. This team has some moxie and I look forward to seeing them power through the regional.
