Israel, Palestine, and the two-state solution

A so-called "two state solution" for the conflict between the Israelis and the Palestinians has been a cornerstone of U.S. policy in that region for 30+ years, ever since the Camp David Accords between Begin and Sada. It has failed to produce peace. Is it time to abandon the two-state idea?

The United States has unilaterally blocked the two-state settlement for the past 36 years. Just look at their votes in the UN on the subject. They've vetoed every single measure, which enjoys an overwhelming international consensus, both in the SC and in the GA. It's really a bad joke to say that "A so-called "two state solution" for the conflict between the Israelis and the Palestinians has been a cornerstone of U.S. policy in that region for 30+ years."

HPSlugga,

You know as well as I do that we were opposed to other provisions/portions of the various UN resolutions and that the two-state solution is an officially-stated goal of U.S. foreign policy.

The devil, of course, is in the details. But this has been our stated goal since Camp David.
