Is VY Done?

Just wondering what your opinions are on the future of VY? He has the talent to be great but so many of his issues point to work ethic. I hope he would be able to get things straight mentally but I can't help to think that his days as a starter are possibly over with all the youth that has shown success in the league at the QB position.

No work ethic = no career. With his athletic ability, if he could read a defense he could be lethal. Sadly, he refuses to learn.

His days as a starter are possibly over? I'd say they're 100%, without a doubt over.

His days as a professional football player are numbered.

VY is done when he decides. Nothing wrong with leaving the game wealthy and healthy.

He is an egomaniac and therefore is not reliable. You cannot try to coach a team and have a player who ignores you or does not try to follow instructions. That can work to a limited extent in the pros and then zip. Nobody is going to trust him. HIs best shot is as a backup somewhere and sit down and learn to walk within the lines like everybody else.

Remember what Mack said when he and DAvis finally capitulated? Just let Vince be Vince. That can work in college if you have a superb team to work with, with guys like Blaylock et al around. It will not work in the pros.

I got dumped on a lot when Vince was at Texas for dumping on his tantrums and grandstanding. It finally caught up with him. He's got all the equipment except a steady head. HE needed a father when he was a kid and didn't have one and now he's like a million other drifting overage children.

Such a waste.

I watched a few games he played this year. He can still throw the ball, the % of his throws that are dropped is stunning. Of course he finished with a horrible game, so I guess that's it for him. Good news for him is he played his five years +, so he earned his pension.

I'm still struck by how much the running game improved in Tenn. when he and Johnson were playing.

I think he could be the best Wildcat QB of all time, in fact I believe if he specialized in that idea, he could play 8-10 years. He's 28 or so now, if he kept himself in shape he could do that job for a loooong time.

I think his agent should try to sell that idea to teams.

well, somebody at ESPN brought up the Denver idea, and MIke and Mike just repeated the idea.

I do like the Denver idea, mostly because I don't think Tebow can make it through the entire season without injury. If I'm Denver I get not one, but two more dual-threat QBs.

I’m probably in the minority here. Though I certainly wish former Horns success in whatever they do, I don’t give a **** about the NFL.

VY brought the crystal home to Austin and for that he’s forever a Longhorn megastar in my book.

VY: great college qb for which the Longhorn fan will eternally idolize him.

VY: mediocre pro qb with a bad work ethic and some head problems.

And 2 Pro Bowls.

Wowza. Here's the scoop on one of those august appointments. Hold your huzzahs til the end please.

The AFC Pro Bowl quarterbacks were originally supposed to be Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and Rivers. Then Brady pulled out, first alternate Ben Roethlisberger declined to participate, second alternate Matt Schaub took Brady’s spot, and now Young, the third alternate, is taking Rivers’ place.

Third alternate is better than a poke in the eye with a stick, but to say VY is anything more than a mediocre NFL qb is ignoring his NFL body of work.

I'm thinking Vince could turn the Wildcat idea into a coaching career as well.

spend a few years being a Wildcat QB, then coach the wildcat QBs.

Makes sense because it seems like almost every NFL team will have a QB get injured sometime during the year. I know there are QBs like Manning, who take every snap. But if you have a Wildcat QB who is used to running out there on 3rd downs and running, throwing occasional passes, you've got a built-in backup when the 1st string QB gets injured, at least better than someone cold off the bench.
