Is the BCS legal?

I love all the Bowls, this is not the NFL. The Bowl system would go by the wayside just as the consolation game in Pro Football and the NCAA Basketball tournament. Our 10-3 Longhorns would have been without the postseason!

Congress has more important things to do then mess with Steroids in Baseball or the BCS in college sports. The Public Universities are State Institiutions, not Federal!!!!

An important fact that is rarely mentioned is that it was the BCS schools that built the sport to where it is today. Football at Michigan, Notre Dame, Texas, Georgia etc was a big money sport 75 years ago. Without the biggest schools building it, there would be little money in it today, just like virtually every other NCAA sport.

I think it's pretty disingenuous for people to go out and accuse these schools of hoarding "the money" when really that pool of money only exists because of their success.

The current bowl system = the old NFL "Playoff Bowl". There's a reason the NFL dropped that game. It's a bit odd to in one sentence declare how awesome the meaningful regular season is, and in the next declare how awesome a meaningless post-season is.

Imagine (if using the above 10 team conferences with an eleven game schedule) how great those two non-conference match-ups could be. It would not matter if you lost because you could still win your conference and qualify for the championship. You would have fantastic, early season non-conference games all over the country. No more Rice or some over-matched directional schools on the schedule.

My belief is that if there is a playoff, 8 team or 16 team, bowls like the Holiday, Alamo etc will go by the wayside. They will fade away and the 10-3 Longhorns would have been sitting at home in December and January.

I don't know why but I really enjoy watching the bowls, some reasons why:

To see other schools that I normally do not see during the year, MAC, WAC, Mountain West so on and so forth.

Watching seniors play thier last game for no other reason than to play the sport and win for their school, pride and self respect.

There is football on almost everyday for the slowest work weeks of the year.

For Texas to play schools like:
Pittsburg, Miami, North Carolina, Penn State, Virginia Tech, Mississippi State, skip, Oregon, Washington, LSU so on and so forth, traveling to most of these place is really cool.

I believe that the playoffs would kill the Bowls just as Video killed the Radio Star.

I hate Pro Football!!!

They mean kill the bowls, so the post season will be the important part of the season. The effect will also kill the regular season, which will trade places with the bowls as the exibition season.
