Is Sally Always on the Sidelines?

LonghornCatholic

Deo Gratias
Thought I saw her there intensely watching on our last drive.
I've never noticed her there in other games, but then again I'm not really looking for her, or anyone else in particular.

Is this a sign that she wants to be with Mack during his last ride, or am I reading too much in to it?

She was checking on who wanted cheeseburgers and who wanted chicken nuggets in their happy meals. Hope they had enough "boy" toys.

Mack can't hear very well with all the clapping, so she was there to eavesdrop on the sideline reporters and make sure they didn't stray from the company line.

I think she's only down there for the big/"important" games, because I remember seeing her there at the last a&m game. She's usually off to the side a little though.

I don't understand her there last night, especially in the middle of everything. You'd think she was a positions coach.

I'm sure that she is sharing the heat that Mack is under. Mental support. He sure looked like he needed it last night.

Sally often travels with Mack to away games.

She was with him when they got off the team bus at the northeast corner of the ISU stadium on Thursday afternoon.

It is truly amazing how cruel, thoughtless and cowardly some people behind the anonymity of the internet can be toward somebody they don't know. You'd think every negative post in this thread was by Paul Wadlington.

Sally is going through enough right now. Leave the gentle lady alone.

Didn't notice her on the sidelines. I don't look for folks on the sidelines, so I don;t know if she is down there often or not. But why would anyone care if she's there?

I was honestly curious if it's common for her to be on the sidelines. No invective intended.
And like another poster stated, I don't look for anybody in particular on the sidelines when I'm at the games, or when watching on tv, but she just happened to catch my eye.

I know the heat Mack is under so the thought crossed my mind that maybe she is there to support her husband through this.
That would be an honorable thing.

It is interesting to me though that some, not all, posters act repulsed by criticism of Mack and his staff, but they turn around and do the same thing to Earl, Simms, Brian Jones, Rod Babers, etc. I'm pretty sure they have earned the right to speak on this matter without the attacks, too. So it goes both ways.

Another thing, I've supported Mack for a long time. It was not until this season that I came to my own conclusion that a change is indeed needed. Some will say I'm four years late and others will tell me Mack is the best we can do and no change is necessary. That's cool.

I'm okay with your point of view, but what gets me is this, I have been supporting UT athletics for a lot of years. I was enrolled here (had to transfer eventually) and my daughter is currently in the college of Natural Sciences here. We have been supporting swimming, track & field, soccer, baseball, basketball, and women’s volleyball long before it was cool to do so. Until recently (minus baseball), only in volleyball is a seat hard to find.

But those of you who state time after time that we should never stop going to the games, backing our head coach, our AD, president, in regards to football, why not apply that same blind loyalty to other UT sports? This is why I really haven’t had a problem with people giving up on the current state of Mack Brown Texas Football. Just like I didn’t have a problem with you letting my daughter and I sit in near empty venues. It’s your right not to support basketball when they are down, or volleyball when it’s not cool.

I agree that if you don't want to attend, then don't attend. We are not aggy with 2% baloney.
Attendance is voluntary and no one should be called out for attendance. Personal choice and no ones business.
I go because I enjoy the game, seeing friends and pulling for the Horns whether they are national title contenders or maybe not quite real good. I would like to vie for the NC every year, but know that doesn't happen with any school. There are ups and downs.
The KState game was damn sure fun and the group we have been sitting with for 25 years had fun getting into the game
and cheering on the Horns. Seemed as though the whole stadium did.
I am not counting out what this team can accomplish this year like so many others on this board. I respect their opinions and understand their angst, but I just have this hope/feeling that thr Horns can improve as the season continues. While a lot of fans point out the Iowa St game as a fiasco, I saw a team that did not give up and fought to the end for a win.
That said, I will be at the Cotton Bowl Saturday and might just get to see an upset of epic proportions. I know I was there in 1977, 1989 & 1990 when we had less of a chance than they are giving us in this game. Who is better, Gardere ,McCoy or McEachern?

OU Sucks!

I guess I strayed from the original post.

Anyone that would negative post a wife standing by her husband is pretty much classless.
Sally has represented this university as the head coach's wife with class and dignity. She is a person of substance and good character. If she wants to be on the sideline, I have no problem with it.
The only person I do not like seeing on the sideline is Jerry Jones. Ha!
