My first reaction after hearing that Congress wanted to have Clemens, McNamee and others testify was... Doesn't Congress have something better to do with our tax dollars? But now that the testimony has been heard and Clemens has been, uhhhhh, less than truthful, I don't think that can be undone. If you lie under oath, you should have to pay the consequences, even if your name is Roger Clemens and even if you've already been embarassed by the public flogging. The thing is... if Roger fessed up right in the beginning like Pettitte did, this probably would have already blown over by now.
Did Congress ask the FBI to drop the probe or Congressman Weiner ask? There is a pretty big difference considering Weiner is a relatively Junior congressman (6yrs) who is leaving to run for NYC Mayor. When that pissant Congressman Henry Waxman tells the FBI to back off then I'll believe it's over.
I'm torn whether Congress should be fighting this fight but I also don't believe Clemens should get away with perjury. In that vein...fight on Congress.
