T Twigg < 25 Posts Apr 24, 2009 #1 I planted a japanese maple in the shade at my house in houston a month ago. The trunk itself looks to be fine, but the leaves are hard and withered. I wonder if this could be from the extreme rain we just had. Any plant experts have any thoughts? THanks.

J J.R.69 250+ Posts Apr 24, 2009 #2 Scratch the bark. If it's green underneath, tree is alive. If not, tree is probably dead.
