is Matthews BO's Cronkite?

Will Chris Matthews hard assessment of BO after years of tingles and drools affect the public the same way Cronkite's denouncement of the way LBJ was presidenting the VM war?

This is some really hard stuff compared to the usual lovefest Matthews has given NO for 5 years

"President Obama "obviously likes giving speeches more than he does running the executive branch," Chris Matthews said tonight.

Yes, you read that right: The MSNBC host who in 2008 felt a "thrill going up my leg" after hearing Obama speak has grown disenchanted. Tonight's episode of Hardball saw Matthews delivering a rare, unforgiving grilling of the president as severe as anything that might appear on Fox News.
"What part of the presidency does Obama like? He doesn't like dealing with other politicians -- that means his own cabinet, that means members of the congress, either party. He doesn't particularly like the press.... He likes to write the speeches, likes to rewrite what Favreau and the others wrote for the first draft," Matthews said.

"So what part does he like? He likes going on the road, campaigning, visiting businesses like he does every couple days somewhere in Ohio or somewhere," Matthews continued. "But what part does he like? He doesn't like lobbying for the bills he cares about. He doesn't like selling to the press. He doesn't like giving orders or giving somebody the power to give orders. He doesn't seem to like being an executive.”The Link

While this may not have as much of an impact as Cronkite no one can deny this is pretty harsh coming from one of BO's most ardent lovers

Mich
poor Mitch, things are hard for you now aren't they?
One thing you can NOT do is say Matthews has not been an ardent BO supporter
even with the few slap on the wrist comments he might have made
BY FAR his love and adoration of BO is all too evident and all too often

would you like to review clips of Chris adoring on BO, for his smile, for his looks for this coolness his crease in his pants
calling BO the perfect Father, perfect husband, perfect American etc etc etc

or would you like to review Matthews insults to people who disagree with BO

Bless your heart. I know you tried
but even you know Matthews has been idiotic in his adoration of BO and really hateful in his view on people who oppose BO

and this was by far the worse he has treated BO.

That's ironic. I heard a clip on the radio last night of Matthews charging that everyone who is critizing Obama's handling of the 3-4 major scandals that are going right now, are doing it because they are racists.

And, yes, if BO loses his number 1 fanboy, Matthews, it is over.

BO is not acting like an executive because he is NOT an executive. He never has been and has no idea what to do. He was a professor and community organizer so he knows how to campaign and meet-and-greet. No wonder that is what he does all the time. Most of us rational folk knew this the minute he started running in '08. Unfortunately the race for the presidency is just a beauty contest anymore.

I see Mich that even you understand how he has damaged himself and his presidency.
3 more years of 'being president" will not mean 3 years of leading.
His most ardent supporters will try to pretend nothing has changed.
They won't be able to fool themselves

Chris Matthews = Walter Cronkite

I see the usual highly keen insight is being delivered by Horn6721. One of the above was the leading anchorman at a time when there were only three networks to choose from. One isn't even a journalist but host a cable show with maybe one tenth the viewership Cronkite had on a bad day.

It's not the same.

Also, Horn6721 calling anyone a fanboy is hilariously ironic. Unless he means it in a positive way. What bigger fanboy can there be than an amateur operative who couldn't give a damn about truth or accuracy or even logic so long as he is boosting his party.

This board used to have some pretty smart people writing on it from both sides. Now it's just we idiots.

I guess everybody is entitled to his or her opinion, but the histronics over the latest Obama scandal make me realize that a lot of people here were not alive or paying attention in 1973-74.

I'm betting anyone suggesting Benghazi is bigger than Watergate would draw complete mental blanks when names like John Dean, John Scirrica, Sam Ervin, Peter Rodino, H.R. Haldeman or JEB Magruder get thrown out there. Ditto for those who think Obama is more corrupt and maliciously intended than Tricky Dick.

And I'm guessing the man throwing out comparison of Chris Matthews to Walter Cronkite never watched the CBS evening news when Uncle Walter was in charge. The relative caliber of Matthews to Cronkite is a 20 guage shotgun and the 16 inch guns of the USS Missouri. Matthews is professional enough at what he does, but he's partisan, opinionated and sometimes full of crap. Cronkite was the picture of fairness and credibiity. He was human, but of sterling character and marvelous judgement. He went about his work with tremendous seriousness and integrity. He deserved his reputation as the most trusted newsman in America back when the news business had a lot more trust and respect than it does today.

Croc
I had to laugh over your use of the phrase' "over the latest Obama scandal"
That must have hurt when you had to acknowledge BO has several scandals from which to choose.

Which one Croc do YOU think is BO's latest scandal?

rv I did not call chris a fanboy

I know it is hard for you and RV to see your boy as he really is.
Think how hard it is for Chris Matthews who has made a living slobbering all over BO and calling anyone who disagree with BO every insult Chris can think of.

You can pretend all you want that comparing Matthew's apparent turn away from non stop BO love to Cronkite's turning away from LBJ really horrifies you.
I get it , that is all you have left.
You for sure can't pretend you think BO is leading the country.

My support for Obama has been tepid and measured. I never felt a thrill watching him speak or special passion for his candidacy/presidency. These "scandals' such as they are and the bizarre passionate expression Obama's detractors like 6721 throw out there do so overwhelm this moderate's ability to laugh it off and keep going. It's like hearing a senior in high school suggest a colony on the surface of Jupiter... you kinda of admire his ethusiasm, but you hope he is willing to learn a little about gravity and the composition of Jupiter pretty soon...

'Of course, you've never bothered to learn those positions"

AH I see you think I do not know your positions vis a vis BO's ideology and actions.
I admit that based on your posts I consider you a BO supporter. I have not read any post of yours that has indicated you do not support BO and any position he takes. Perhaps there is one. Or perhaps you can explain how I am misguided in my opinion of your over all views on BO

I am left bereft knowing you consider this thread a failure

If I remember correctly, it took some time to figure out Nixon did have something to do with it. It will take some time to figure out if Obama has anything to do with all of these "scandals" as well and I don't have much faith in the media today to dig that deep. If he doesn't know what his appointees are doing, he's derelict in his duty as president.

rv
' think the most I've said of any of his other policies is that I hope they work. That would be good for the country. Surely you wish the same things.
Surely I wish the same?
His policies are not good for the country and after 4 years even supporters who care for the country can see that

so NO NO NO I do not want most of his policies to succeed. Only people like you would think not wanting a policy that is not good for the country to fail means one cares more for party.
That may be how you feel but it is not how I feel

How about caring what is good for the country?
Now that you know so much more about obamacare and now that you have seen the deleterious effect it is having NOW even before it goes fully into effect and reading the negative effects it will have once fully implemented do you still support it?

I hope you aren't one of those despicable people who want obamacare implemented no matter the cost to the people just because BO and Dems rammed it through.
