Is it too late to seed my lawn?

I am hoping to sell my house later this year.

The lawn is not in the best shape so I would like to try and get in the best shape possible in the next few months.

Is it too late to reseed my lawn (in austin and have Bermuda grass).

Although you might be tempted to seed your lawn now (especially with the warm weather we just had), you really should wait until late spring.

The package of the seed I have in the garage says to use it between Jan - March, for what that's worth. I'd go to Home Depot or something and check it out.

You have two options. The first is to seed it with a winter rye that will die out about mid April if not sooner depending on how fast it gets hot. The advantage to winter rye is you get a green lawn very fast but will die very soon. You don't want to put bermuda out until the soil reaches 72 deg. The seed won't geminate until then and mostly likely birds will have eaten all the seed if it is down longer than a few days.

Watch for heavy rain predictions as well...nothing worse then having all that good seed go down the drain.
