My 15 year old daughter (currently in Honors English in high school) says that funner is not a word. It is proper, she says, to say "more fun."

She also says that only old crazy farts use the word "funner." Should I believe her? Ground her? Take away her cell phone and texting privileges?

Looking for advice.

funner is no more a word than the word golf can be used as a verb.

In a word - it's not. And golf is NOT A ******* VERB.

So I should not say:

It is funner to golf than it is to get stuck in the eye with a stick?"

Is lighted a word? Or better yet, should it be? I hear people say it all the time and I think, why don't you say lit?

And I realize hanged is proper, but doesn't hung just sound better?

It would have been funner if he hanged himself it a well lighed area.

"Golf" is both a noun and a verb, just like many other action words in English, such as "bicycle", "drum", or "whip"

"Funner" is not a word.

Dude: How about "It would have been funner if he hanged himself in a well lighted area after having done some golf."

Golf is not a verb. Neither is tennis. I don't "tennis" just like I don't "golf" ... nor was I "tennising" today ... or "golfing".

I fully understand that this usage is now accepted in the english language. Doesn't make it right.

i use the word funner and no english teacher, or pupil, can tell me otherwise.

No results found for funner: per dictionary.com

I use the word though. Example.... It would be funner to dance on a bar than start a fight. LOL
