I didn't see anything on this posted so I figured I'm gonna put this up. After Kennedy's 'Ich bin ein Berliner' landmark speech, Obama's speech in Dublin became another landmark in great speeches by leaders.

If Ireland wants Obama, they're welcome to him. The ability to read a teleprompter and deliver a "rousing speech" and the ability to govern effectively are apparently not highly correlated.

I would use Obama as what not to do in life, say one thing and do another. Nothing he has ever done would be representation on what to do in life with my kids.

Thank you you for the link. I sat down with my 3 year old and my 20 month old and watched it with them. I told them I hope and pray that they never grow up to be a politician. I told them I hope and pray that they get a right theological education so if they profess to be Christians that they can articulate the basic beliefs of their faith, instead of not knowing if 'they are going up or down' like Obama.
I also told them I hope and pray then never see the rule of law and Constitution as a 'obstacle' to be overcome in our nation. I also told them that I hope they never not only think it is ok to murder unborn children, but they never think it is ok for others to pay for those murders.
We already talk to them about debt, so we hope they don't even hardly have a mortgage, much less rack up debts they can never repay on things that are illegal.
Again Roger35, I thank you for that link so I could teach my children so much about what type of person NOT to be.

That speech by Reagan was amazingly inciteful as to what the future would hold for Europe. Alas, he failed to should, "Heelloooo London!!" though.

I took some liberties what what I really did. I just watched it myself, but I can't think of much in Obama that want my kids to grow up to be.
I feel that by denying them all things though, I am teaching them about debt and how not to be in debt.
I figure that we don't talk about murder much, but only the blood of Jesus. I do tell them just about every day that their only comfort in life and in death is that they are not their own but that they belong to God, body and soul, because he has purchased them with his own blood.
I can't think of a single politician today I want my kids to grow up to be like truthfully.

Obama is a good orator. Don't know about great, but hey, I'm feeling generous so let's say he is. He is not "once in a generation." I know of plenty of people who would rival or best him in that area, and these people roam the US today. Most aren't politicians, though, because that career path attracts scummy people, sayers rather than doers, idealogues versus men of action. A politician giving a rousing speech with a history of inaction or poor action does exactly dick for me. Those who celebrate such orators should be flogged and ridiculed.
