Is Barnes in trouble?

I mean, ****. Barnes has totally lost this team. If you look at Barnes' face, he looks tired, and quite honestly, sick. I'm wondering if this is it? Could this be his last season here? Thoughts? This team sucks at the moment.

Of the overhaul in Men's athletics done in the 90's with Augie, Barnes, and Mack.....

All but one of those guys has delivered a national championship. Barnes built the program to top tier status, but it might take someone different to finally lift that trophy.

Apparently you just became a Texas fan this year and missed the previous 10 years he has been here.

In those 10 years he has:
245-92 record (2nd only to KU in Big 12) his 0.73 winning % is by far better than UT coach
Made NCAA tourney EVERY SINGE YEAR
made sweet 16 or better 5 years.
Made a final four.
Won conference 3 times
Produced 2 national POY
Ranked in 9 season, top 10 in 4, and top 5 in 2.
produced 4 lottery picks

Everything will be fine next year when we have potentially 2 McD's AA (including a top PG) coming in and another talented swingman to shore up our, should be, good inside play.

...i cant believe i actually responded to this post.

Thinking about having taquitos for breakfast. Maybe a little cheese, bacon and egg. Not sure I am up for throwing some jalapeno's in there.

NO. But he has looked kind of pale for the whole season. Hope he's healthy.

Who is the top PG we have coming in? None of the three incoming freshman play the point. Jai Lucas (transfer from Florida) will play the point, but he is hardly considered a top PG. We have to hope he can run the team because there will at least be more talent (and more shooters) next year.

While I'm very pissed about Barnes' coaching this season, this is a really stupid thread.

Get real. This is a down year, they happen. In fact they seem to happen every 4 years with 01 and 05 being the last two Texas teams to be 1 and done in the NCAA tourney. This team may not even make the tourney and it would be the first of the Barnes era. Barnes is here until he is ready to hang it up.

Barnes and the team are struggling. I think there are multiple reasons. Losing DJ and not having a solid PG is one reason, but there are more.

I hate to be talking about next year already, but if you think Barnes is in trouble take this into consideration.

The next two years are locked up with nationally ranked kids coming in. And there's already another nationally ranked for 2011 and rumored 2012.

2009
5* Avery Bradley SG 6-3 175 - Henderson, NV
5* Jordan Hamilton SF 6-7 210 - Los Angeles, CA
4* Shawn Williams SF 6-7 215 Duncanville, TX

Hamilton is expected to be one and done, but he and Bradley have already established a friendship and they both want to bring a NC to Texas. So much so that Hamilton has expressed the desire to stay 2 years. We'll see if that happens, but it's nice to hear the kid say that.

2010
5* Daniel Bejarano SG 6-5 200 - Phoenix, AZ
5* Tristan Thompson PF 6-8 210 - Newark, NJ

2011
(No ranking yet, but expected to be in Top 100)
Myck Kabongo PG 6-2 160 - Newark, NJ

You mix in the 2009 class with a potential All-American Dexter Pittman next year, plus the addiiton of Jai Lucas, plus a healthy Wangmene, and hopefully a more developed Hill/Chapman/Balbay/Ward and you have a legit Top 3 preseason reanking next year and the year after.

The future of UT basketball has never looked brighter than the next two years.

What Third Coast said.

As threads go, this one is pretty silly; I guess there's a lot of Sunday morning boredom these days.

This is a stupid thread, have you watched any UT basketball the past 10 years? We've lost the last 3 games by a total of 11 points. With a decent point guard we would be 18-4 and talking about a 3 seen in the tournament. People should realize how good DJ Augustine was since this is the years team is the same players minus DJ. Recruiting has been down the last 2 years, in numbers and quality but things pick up the next 2 years. Barnes is not in trouble.

He does look especially pale, but there is no way in hell he is in trouble professionally - that is ridiculous.

Maybe that is a testament to him never being out side and always in the office/film room/ gym.

I hope so.

He doesn't look healthy.

This is a stupid thread title. I think a few of us were more focused on isues and dismissed the idea of Barnes being in trouble, which is stupid. We should have just started a separate thread.

While I'm very pissed about Barnes' coaching this season, this is a really stupid thread. Amen brother!!! My thoughts exactly

When I first read the title of this thread, I simply thought, "No." Now that I've sat here and read through all the posts and really think about the OP's question, my thought is more, "Are you kidding me?"

This is a frustrating season, nothing more. It's not like this is year three or four of consecutive mediocre seasons. This team just made the regional finals last year.
