Is a High Def DVD burner going to be available?

I copy all UT football games in low def, and I'm waiting to get a high def TV and DVR when I can edit & burn high def DVD's.

Why burn to DVD (Blu-Ray)? Just record it to a hard drive and be done with it. You could get many seasons of games in HD on a single drive.

They make Blu-ray burners right now. The cheapest on Newegg will set you back about $160.

Unless by "high def DVD" you mean HD-DVD, in which case you're probably pretty screwed.

You can get a 1TB hard drive for under $100 and it will be more than enough for many seasons worth of games. Match it up with an Apple TV or some other media server/client arrangement and you'll be able to watch it anywhere you want including your computer, iPod, and/or TVs.

BTW, no one expects Blu-Ray burners to get anywhere near the rate of adoption of CD and DVD burners for this very reason. Hard media storage is virtually obsolete at this point if you're objective about your options.

Ditto the DVR angle above, unless your primary objective is to be able to take them with you when traveling. I've got a 1TB drive in one of my DirecTV DVRs with 35 sporting events in HD, and I've still got 20% of the space available...

You can download the stuff saved on a DVR or Tivo to a memory stick or card, right? Are there specific HD cards or sticks or is that to come? Can't you just save an entire season of games, say, on one stick and store that for later viewing?
