What a day of contrasts. Two USA women's team were very much below expectations and were a disappointment even if they got silver. One feels that we let two gold medals get away.
Our softball team had been so dominate that even though we had to face Japan again I expected them to win even though the other game was close but we messed up. I wonder if we should have kept Lisa on this team.
Our water polo team was expected to have tough competition but when I saw it was the Dutch we were playing for gold I thought we would pull it out but we suffered another humiliating defeat and lost a gold.
Then the bright golden moment! This was the team I didn't even think they would medal when they lost Abby! In fact even with her I didn't think we would win gold. She is not only a great player but her leadership is invaluable. But the USA fought and got to the gold medal game with Brazil and I still didn't think they could pull it out. But they fought and won. Way to go Ladies. These ladies very much exceeded expectations..
