Iron Man

Sorry guys I watched Iron Man on PPV and it bored me to tears, I been listening to you guys talk about how great it is and it is two hours of boredom with a few bright spots in the last 30 minutes. Downey was ok but Paltrow and Bridges sucked. Lets hope the second one gets to the point faster. The two Black Knight movies kicked the crap out of Iron Man.

I agree that it's not as good as the two most recent Batman movies, but it's certainly better than most of the recent superhero movies. I'd go as far as to say it's better than the original Spider-Man, or at least in that same class.

Wow. Yes, it did take some time to get the story out but it was a pretty good movie. As good as the new Batman's? Well probably not but that is a very high standard.

my expectations may have been too high but i turned it off midway through. granted i was tired, but i had no desire to stay up and watch...
i think another problem is that i'm totally superhoero'd out...

If you turned it off half way through then you missed the whole movie really.

Also, it is a set up for sequals because if you wait until after the credits, Samuel L Jackson appears and talks to Tony about SHIELD.

It was good in the last 30 minutes to bad you had to sit through the first 2 hours. Casino Royal was 1000 times better, Both Black Knight movies. It was not as bad as I am Legend but what movie is?

As a child who owned hundreds of comic books, I thought I would love the comic book movies based on the comics I owned.

However, only Iron Man and Hell Boy are movies that I would watch a second time. I didn't like any of the Batman, Hulk, Spiderman or Superman movies. I have watched Popeye a few times only because it was filmed in Malta when I lived there and I knew several of the extras.

Weird I guess.

hmm, i loved the movie and i thought the last 30 minutes were the worst. i thought the setup was great. and are you talking about dark knight, or black knight, the martin lawrence movie?

I liked the movie VERY much but actually preferred Hancock. Then again, I am a big Will Smith fan from the early days of his music career so maybe that had something to do with it.

But the margin is thin in preference. I do think they are two different movies, however, and comparisons don't do either justice other than they both fly. Two different breeds of cat, both enjoyable.

I suggest you watch the end of it and then either hate it or love it. I am sure I am in the minority of having liked Hancock more than Iron Man. I would conversely be much more interested in seeing an Iron Man sequel than a Hancock one. I don't think Hancock II would be good at all and hopefully there are no plans for it. Iron Man, however, better have sequels, soon.

has anybody read anything interesting about all the phallic imagery?

I enjoyed it but when I walked out i recall thinking that I never thought I'd see a movie about a flying dick.

I too finally got around to seeing it on PPV yesterday. I thought it was entertaining. Lots of build up though for not very much Iron Man. Definitely a setup for sequels. Downey, as usual, impressed. The quips with his automated robot arms were quite funny. From looking at IMDB, apparently most of the lines in this movie were ad-libbed.

I watched it on PPV last night. RDJ is greatness in anything he does, but as soon as someone starts flying through the air it will suck all the life force right out of me. I only watched it because a buddy of mine said it was greatness.

Could not disagree more. I thought it was absolute greatness and have seen it two or three times.

Not as good as either of the last 2 batmans, but for me those were both movie of the year for me.

And I too thought that the last half hour was the worst part of the movie. Not that it was bad, but the fight scene was a little cheesy and over the top for me.

I loved the Iron man movie. I never was a comic book guy so I have no idea if it was true to its roots, but I definately liked it and would definately see a sequel in the theater. And I would not have gone if not for the raves on HF's. Glad I did.
