Iranian elections

Preliminary results from the Iranian elections look promising. It appears that the moderates will have a comfortable majority in Parliament. They also will have a majority in the Assembly of Experts, which oversees religious issues (including selection of the next Ayatollah).

The next 10-20 years will be very interesting. A coup is certainly within the realm of possibility. Barring that, we could be looking at a less hostile Iran in the near future.

It seems the nuclear deal is having some positive impact. I know Ted Cruz has pledged to roll it back on his first day as president and other Republican have also talked tough. I wonder if Republican leadership can imagine a path forward for more harmonious relations with Iran that doesn't require face-losing capitulation from the Iranian leadership?
