I'm really new to Itunes and need ya'lls help. I just got an Ipod tough and would like to put a movie I already own onto it. The DVD is not on my computer so how do I get it from the DVD to Itunes?
Easiest answer is handbrake, if you are on a Mac. I don't think that the PC version will rip directly from the DVD. If you are using a PC, you need to add one more step, ripping the DVD to your harddrive. So you would need two programs:
1) a DVD ripping program. I use DVD Decryptor, but there are a few other free ones and lots of pay software out there. Rip the movie stream to a single VOB file and then rename that file to .mpg.
2) a conversion program. Handbrake will work for the rest of this on a PC. I also like videora iphone convertor. Its probably one of the more easy, straightforward programs out there, but you have to put up with a bunch of embedded advertisements.
Or, the other option, and the one Apple would prefer, is for you to go to iTunes and license an iTouch compatible version of the movie you already own and download to your iPod.
