GF has a mini, I'm getting one of those shuffles to work out with. She has D/L a gazillion songs from Itunes. Can i d/l those songs on my shuffle or do I have to buy em again?

I anxiously await a response as well. I have the exact same question b/c I want the songs my brother has downloaded. And, I don't know if I can somehow "share" his iTunes.

If it doesn't work, I'll likely burn what I want onto a cd and then copy them onto my computer and into my iTunes. But, I'd rather find an easier way.

You can use hers. You may need to export hers to a CD (in mp3 format) first, then copy from that CD.

You can share your downloads between 4 devices I believe. If she's already at that #, you can just go the aforementioned route, dump them all on CD and then import them into your iTunes.

I think everyone is wrong here: you can only authorize 5 computers to play downloaded music, but you can upload the music to an unlimited number of iPods (I believe -- definitely more than two). You can't download the music from your iPod to a different computer using iTunes.

My desktop is the main computer I use my iPod with. However, I wanted to have my music on my laptop also so I downloaded www.kennettnet.co.uk/software/podutil.php this handy program that allows you to transfer the music on your iPod to another computer. So you could use that program to transfer your girlfriends music to your computer and then download it to your iPod.

we are a two ipod household and we share our library without any problems. Be sure to have your iTunes setting OFF for "Do automatic updates", and turned ON to "manually manage files" -- otherwise your GF will wind up with all of your Ashlee Simpson next time she links up.
